Me & Rico and our bad-ass blood donation band!

This past Tuesday I celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary with the amazing Rick DeOliveira. I know, I can’t believe it either. He and I had planned a very different way to celebrate, but our plan was foiled. We, like so many of you, needed a Plan B. So much these days is unknown and out of our control, but one thing we CAN do is something to help others. It makes us feel good and who doesn’t need a little more of that? On May 19 (our anniversary) we dressed up, wore our fanc...y face masks (that I designed a cute logo for!), and walk over to the Jefferson Blood Bank to donate blood. Plan Be Positive. Supplies are very low and hospitals are in need right now. And we’d love it if we inspired some of you to do the same if you’re able to. Please consider donating. Here’s a link where you can sign up: https://lnkd.in/eYRMKbZ Oh, and this also happened (sorry for the commercial): https://6abc.com//couple-celebrates-25th-annivers/6196056/

Yo! Museum exhibit design peeps!!!

After getting snubbed by the Philadelphia Inquirer in a recent feature on area outdoor gardens, Mt. Cuba Center (one of my favorite clients) scored a lovely write up in the NY Times. This place is seriously worth visiting for so many reasons and I can't wait to go when it reopens! #mtcubacenter

Introducing Gallery Gateway! The curators at The Rosenbach Museum and I have been working furiously for the past week to share with you (virtually, of course) a tour of their current exhibit, American Voyager: Herman Melville at 200. It's the next best thing to actually being there!

I got to design the graphics for this amazing Longwood Gardens display at the Philadelphia Flower Show. The wall of succulents is gorgeous and if you get the chance to see the show you should check it out. Yay spring!

This visitor feedback/review of the "American Voyager" exhibit @TheRosenbach that I designed makes me so happy. It almost makes me want to try Twitter again. Almost. But not quite. Kudos to curator extraordinaire Alex Ames!

Huzzah! The American Voyager: Herman Melville at 200 exhibit at The Rosenbach is open now thru April. A little shameless self-promotion for myself as the exhibit designer...

I love it when I get an email from a client letting me know that "the whaling implements have arrived." #melvilleexhibit #mobydick #rosenbach

As a professional, I struggle with what it means to work for a museum. And as a life-long museum geek I've had to rethink how (and why) I continue to be drawn to them. A quote from this article really stopped me in my tracks today: "You probably didn’t know and most museums weren’t going to tell you that many of those relics were stolen goods. Or that more than a few donor-angels were plutocrats trying to scrub their cash clean with art. Or that the values embodied in beautiful things were often, if closely examined, abhorrent."
