Olmoling Update on our fundraising efforts to assist Humla, Nepal during their time of need due to COVID 19, May 24: A big thank you to all those who have generously donated! Supplies for about half the budget have been ordered and will be transported to Humla shortly. We rely on your continued generosity to ensure that the costs of the supplies and transport are covered and to start collecting towards additional much needed supplies, in particular more ventilators and beds.... We need your help to treat illness from COVID-19 and limit the spread of the virus in the remote Humla valley of Nepal. Humla is the place where Tempa Lama was born and spent the first six years of his life before beginning his studies at Menri Monastery, India. he has been working to support the people of Humla for many years. Humla is one of the world’s most remote areas, with a population of around 50,000 spread across small villages and the capital of Simikot, where a small district hospital is located. COVID-19 cases in Humla are now increasing day by day. We are working with Dr. Tashi Wangchuk Lama, medical superintendent of the small district hospital of Humla and nurse Kelsang Dolma to meet the hospital’s needs. The goal is to treat those who are ill and limit further spread of COVID. This requires having a place where symptomatic patients can be safely isolated and treated. The hospital currently has seven beds for intensive care, however, these beds are not isolated from other hospital patients. Dr. Tashi Wangchuk Lama is in the process of setting up 20 intensive care beds in tents for COVID patients. We need your help to fund these intensive care beds, oxygen concentrators, ventilators, and monitors. In addition, we need masks, gloves, sanitizer, and PPE equipment for hospital staff, and essential medicines to treat 100-200 COVID patients in the coming weeks. Read more about our fundraising efforts. https://www.olmoling.org//help_us_protect_the_people_of_hu Contributions of any size are gratefully received! You can safely donate online here. https://www.olmoling.org//help_us_protect_the_people_of_hu Thank you for your generosity!

Olmoling just finished our weekend teaching on the Medicine Buddah. We had 377 people register. We are so grateful to Tempa Lama Rinpoche for sharing his compassion and wisdom with us. The teaching was concluded by performing the Medicine Buddah Ritual, complete with tormas and instruments. Lama Rinpoche was assisted by 3 local senior students, Jim, Gary and Iris. The ritual and teaching took place at our Olmoling Temple in Pittsburg. We would like to thank all the amaz...ing translators that took the time to translate for us. Special thanks to: Milena the Polish translator, Julian the Spanish translator, Nicolas the French translator, Fredor and Alex the Russian translators. May all beings benefit.
