Michael Phelps brought Cupping Therapy to mainstream TV during the 2016 Olympics when he appeared, ready to compete, with red circles on his back. These red circles are the result of an ancient Chinese medicine practice called Cupping Therapy. Cupping Therapy has so many benefits, but is most popularly used for reducing muscle tightness, tension, and inflammation along with promoting the healing process. Cups that create a suction are placed on the affected area in various ...locations. The suction creates space within the muscles and promotes blood flow, sometimes being referred to as a massage in reverse. Below are pictures of one of our patients that came in with shoulder pain and had 2 cupping sessions (4 days apart) with Dr. Katey, who is a Certified Cupping Therapist. After the first visit, the patient stated that she had noticeable improvement and even more so after the second visit.
