Old Saint Joseph's Church 07.12.2020

Joining us for the livestream of 9:30 AM Mass this morning? Here is the worship aid: https://oldstjoseph.org//3rd-Sunday-of-Advent.B-2020-CV.pdf and here is Pope Francis's prayer of spiritual communion: My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the altar. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart ... I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.

Visit This Week @OSJ (https://oldstjoseph.org/about-osj/thisweek/) for Chris Ross's beautiful reflections about experiencing Advent as a brand-new parent. (Well, and also for information about celebrating Christmas at OSJ. But first things first.) Thanks to Kelly Sikkema on Unsplash for the photo!

There may not be an election result (yet), but there is clearly work to be done. Consider, this morning, the Ignatian Solidarity Network's examen for civic engagement: https://ignatiansolidarity.net/ignatian-examen-for-civic-/

Here is a post-Election prayer by Jane Deren PhD from the Ignatian Solidarity Network's Education for Justice program. On this Election Day, it is not too soon to start praying about what comes next. O God of Healing, We are called to wholeness, We are called to community,... We are called to restore and renew. To the darkness of division, We choose to respond with light, To the despair of violence, We choose to respond with peace, Trusting in Your light and Your peace To open a way forward. O God of Healing, Help us listen and learn, Present to the sorrows we all bear. Help us reflect on your teaching As we seek new beginnings. Help us to act with the realization We are all your children, We are sisters and brothers, Connected with sacred bonds. God of Healing, Hear our prayer for wholeness, For community, for restorative peace, And for the renewal of our nation. In Christ’s name, hear our prayer. Amen. See more
