A huge thank you! Our May matching campaign was an outright success! The Lily Foundation sponsored our "Double Down" matching campaign during the month of May, with an original goal of $10,000. By the end of the month, POBS supporters had blown far past that mark, giving over $25,000. The Foundation generously agreed to double down as well, extending the match to $20,000 for a total of over $45,000, all in support of POBS's scholarships, school subsidies, and work in the comm...unity. For this weeks #SundaySpotlight, we have Collier (they/them)! They have been working for POBS since Fall 2019, but have worked for NYC Outward Bound since 2017! You can most likely find them on any type of outdoor adventure - including both expedition and Insight! Every summer, our New Jersey Youth Leadership Corps (NJYLC) alumni gather from near and far to celebrate and welcome a new crew to the circle. Although we were unable to hold the NJYLC expedition this year, we didn't want to miss the opportunity for our alumni to reconnect. We're excited to announce that The Discovery Center has partially re-opened! The reservoir’s Nature Trail and Water Walk are now open to the public Thursday - Saturday from 10-4 PM. While our in-person programs and events are still on hold, the Philadelphia Outward Bound Schools and our partners at Audubon Pennsylvania have been hard at work developing virtual programs. This Circle Up we'll hear the story of how the Philadelphia Outward Bound School started in the early 1990s and grew into the organization it is today. This Circle Up will be led by POBS’ Executive Director, Meg Wise, and Outward Bound USA's Chief Advancement Officer, Katie Newsom, who served as POBS' Executive Director from 1999-2018.

Earlier this summer when protests started in Philadelphia and across the country expressing outrage at the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police and the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and Rayshard Brooks, POBS like many other organizations took to social media to show our support for #BlackLivesMatter and to announce our hope to help end structural and systemic racism.
