CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) Critical DHS Services Are Still Available Online Despite Closures PA DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES MARCH. 25, 2020 ... The Department of Human Services (DHS) closed county assistance offices (CAOs) in coordination with Governor Wolf’s mitigation guidance regarding social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In-person visits will not be available, and staffing for phone lines may be diminished. As we focus on keeping Pennsylvanians safe and healthy, now is a great time to utilize DHS online resources. COMPASS COMPASS is an online tool for Pennsylvanians to apply for many health and human service programs and manage benefit information. DSPs are on the front lines of supporting people with confirmed or possible infection with coronavirus (COVID-19) and therefore have an increased risk of exposure to this virus. DSPs can minimize their risk of exposure when supporting possible COVID-19 patients by following CDC infection prevention and control guidelines.

response plan for the Coronavirus from : Hope Springs Farm Hi All, Here is the latest update (as of Noon Friday March 13, 2020) on our plans here at Hope Springs Farm to deal with the Coronavirus outbreak in our local area.... At this time we still have no plans to close. However, we are continually monitoring the local conditions and information provided to us by the County, State, and Federal authorities. If that changes we will notify you by phone, just like we would do during a weather closure. I have attached the most current list of sources from Dr. Cherpes, ODP Medical Director that includes links to the PA Department of Health and the CDC Covid-19 Coronavirus update websites. FLYER As always as a parent/guardian/caregiver you should do what’s best for the Grower and your family. As recommended by the CDC we are asking all Families and Residential Providers who notice Growers showing symptoms of a cold or flu to keep them at home and take appropriate steps to determine what they have. If we notice Growers displaying these symptoms we will notify you at once and ask that you pick them up. In order to make those decisions, let me tell you what we are doing here at the Farm and at our community activities. - We received instructions from DHS/ODP that the requirement for community outings has been temporarily suspended. This means we won't be going out in the community as much as we have scheduled. Lots of places we usually go and volunteer or visit are temporarily closing. We will continue to go where we can, but the published schedule has changed significantly. We will be updating the schedule on our website for you to compare. - Each day our staff greets the Growers as they arrive and asks them to wash their hands. Then they have the Growers wash their hands after each activity. We hope this will not only help prevent the spread of germs and viruses, but will become a habit for the Growers even at home. - We also remind the Growers to cough or sneeze into a tissue or into their upper sleeve, not their hands. - At the end of the day Staff is cleaning the Grower program areas all around the Farm based on CDC guidance. If you have any questions about our response to this recent outbreak, please feel free to call 717-298-1845, or email us at [email protected] Jim Gainer, Exec. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 12, 2020 Department of Human Services Releases COVID-19 Operational Recommendations for Child Welfare, Intellectual Disability and Autism Providers Harrisburg, PA ... The Department of Human Services’ (DHS) offices of Children, Youth, and Families (OCYF) and Developmental Programs (ODP) today released operational recommendations for providers of child welfare services as well as intellectual disability and autism services in Pennsylvania in response to COVID-19. The Wolf administration is committed to serving vulnerable populations every day, and that commitment will not waiver in the face of an emergency, said DHS Secretary Teresa Miller. We will ensure that delivery of services to children and families served by the child welfare system and individuals with an intellectual disability or autism will continue, and we are asking our providers to ensure the same. OCYF and ODP have developed the following operational recommendations, which will be updated and re-released on a recurring basis as new information becomes available: Exercise and promote hygienic practices. Review agency back-up plan and infection control procedures. Report all suspected cases of COVID-19 to OCYF or ODP, as necessary. Contact OCYF or ODP before making any changes to your business practice whenever possible. Examples of changes in business practices include, but are not limited to: o Suspending services at a service location such as temporarily closing a day program. o Reducing or eliminating the provision of community-based activities. o Restricting individuals’ abilities to receive services. Document what actions were taken and maintain evidence for why actions were taken. Stay Informed via the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. ODP providers may contact the appropriate ODP Regional Office or email the ODP Regulatory Administration Unit at [email protected] to notify ODP of a proposed change in business practice and/or seek guidance related to same. OCYF providers should contact their local OCYF regional office to notify OCYF of a proposed change to business practice and/or seek guidance. DHS program offices are continuing to formulate recommendations for other provider communities and will publish guidance as it becomes available. Visit the PA Department of Health’s dedicated Coronavirus webpage for the most up-to-date information regarding COVID-19. Guidance to DHS providers related to COVID-19 is available here.
