The Supreme Court held in a 5-4 decision that legal immigrants may be detained without a hearing pending deportation proceedings. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear four cases that could have far-reaching repercussions for criminal cases, including whether unanimous juries are required for convictions and whether using the insanity defense is a constitutional right.
