We are very pleased to announce the return of The ODYSSEY Exhibition, and the Call for Photography is now open thru March 8, 2021! Like its predecessor, AMERICANA, ODYSSEY is one of the largest and most successful shows on the East Coast and features entrants from across the country and around the world. Considering we’re all still stuck at home, we have made some changes. To keep things interesting, we’ve increased the prize amounts and added special awards for black & whit...e and wildlife. In addition, we have added a very specific Director’s Choice, or perhaps more appropriately, a Director’s Challenge award based, on the core principles of all of our workshops. Despite the changes, the premise of ODYSSEY is the same WHATEVER you shoot and WHEREVER your photographic journey has taken you is eligible for entry. Virtually any subject, taken anywhere in the world, is eligible. That’s as wide open as we can make it. The only requirement to enter is that the images need to be good! Really, that’s all don’t overthink it! All of the details are at http://www.pacenterforphotography.org/ and please let your friends know about this exciting opportunity to have their work displayed alongside some truly exceptional photography!
It takes a herculean effort to guide a small child through these these turbulent times of Covoid and just wanted to say thanks to all of the parents out there (especially Katie and Dave!!!) for all you do. May 2021 be the end of this fiasco and the beginning of a bright future for all!
The Michener Art Museum has a great opportunity for Delaware Valley photographers. They will be presenting an exhibition entitled "Essential Work - A Community Portrait" and have an open call out for images. I'm sure it will be great, so please see: https://bucksco.michenerartmuseum.org/essential-work
The judging is finished and the TRANSFORMATIONS Exhibition is now open! Please go to the PCP website and enjoy some exquisite photography such as the winning images below! http://www.pacenterforphotography.org/ PS. Please share this with your friends and fellow photographers, we can all use a bit of something positive and nice these days!
The preliminary judging for The TRANSFORMATIONS Exhibition has been completed and the list of successful entrants may be found at http://www.pacenterforphotography.org/ . We wish everyone the best of luck!
The Call for Photography for TRANSFORMATIONS has ended and we would really like to thank everyone who entered for their support. We weren't sure about much of anything when we decided to run the show this year as a digital only event in light of the pandemic, but it is now obvious we didn't need to be concerned. Not only was the entry level higher than we anticipated, but the quality level is through the roof! The hard task of judging is soon to begin and along with our thanks, we want to wish everyone good luck!
Last Call!!!! Only a short time before entries for the TRANSFORMATIONS Exhibition close and the judging process begins. This year, the winners will be selected by the photographers who enter the show so it WILL be an interesting experiment! Details may be found at... http://www.pacenterforphotography.org/ The photograph is an interpretation of a portion of the most excellent Halloween display created by Dolores Dragon in Lambertville NJ and we would like to thank her for the joy and shivers she brought so many people throughout the years!
LAST DAYS FOLKS!!!!!!!! Please share with your fellow photographers! Details on one of the most unique photographic exhibitions may be found at: http://www.pacenterforphotography.org/
We have had a minor problem where entries for the TRANSFORMATIONS Exhibition were not being accepted. We believe that it has been corrected but if you have any problems please let us know.
Please share with your fellow photographers!
Important TRANSFORMATIONS Exhibition Information... and we would appreciate it if you would share this post! We have had several requests from people who have been instrumental to the success of the PCP to extend the deadline for the TRANSFORMATIONS Exhibition. Given the unique challenges that many face as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, this is an easy request to grant. Thus, the entry deadline will be extended to October 15th (11:59 pm PST) and the other relevant dates ...for judging and the presentation of the show may be adjusted accordingly. This is the first time we have ever extended an entry deadline, but it is a way (albeit a very small one) that we can show our appreciation for all of the folks who are trying to keep us healthy, get our schools open safely, and return our lives to some semblance of normalcy. BTW we have been getting some REALLY incredible entries and are very pleased to see so many new people entering. It is going to be a great show and we are most appreciative of the kind words of support for the PCP in general, and this show specifically, that so many of you have sent. Thank you!!!! For complete details please see our website at: http://www.pacenterforphotography.org/
I would just like to say thank you to everyone who helped make last week a huge success for the PCP. Our new Facebook page Before, After, and In Between got off to a smashing start and the entries to our TRANSFORMATIONS Exhibition far exceeded our expectations. The quality and creativity of the entries is simply incredible and it is rewarding to get submissions from so many different states and as well as our neighbors to the North and our friends from across the Atlantic. ... Please join us at Before, After, and In Between which may be found at https://www.facebook.com/groups/328815864976057 and where you can find the original of the image below. Everyone is welcome! The Pennsylvania Center for Photography is excited to announce our new Facebook Group - Before, After, and In Between which will provide photographers with the opportunity to show their work at various stages of completion and get input and ideas from their fellow photographers. It is our intent to follow the same general guidelines as our in-person Constructive Critique Group (on a Covoid-19 forced hiatus) that so many people enjoyed. Everyone is welcome to join and contribute their images and their thoughts. It is intended to be a group run group, so if no one participates, it will be very quiet. If a lot of people participate, it will be very informative and, hopefully, an opportunity to make new friends. Please check it out and see how "Harley Heaven" started out. https://www.facebook.com/groups/328815864976057
On a hot summer night, relaxing outside seems like a great idea even when the original was taken on a hot fall day! The Call for Photography for TRANSFORMATIONS 2020 is open at: http://www.pacenterforphotography.org/
On a personal note, TRANSFORMATIONS comes at a good time for me in that it has provided an impetus to examine my own work and look at things a bit differently. And I do mean examine because like everyone else, I can’t go out and actually shoot the things I really want to shoot. Thus, I have been looking back rather than forward and working on images that I had long left for dead. What I have found is that there is both entertainment and value in working with images where my ...first reaction is WTF was I thinking and why did I kill millions of defenseless pixels for THAT? As the summer turns to fall, I’ll be posting some of them here for your amusement but you saw the first of them in the red ad below announcing the show. I can offer no rational explanation for the original version of today’s offering. I can’t even make up a good story. I wasn’t drunk or smoking wacky weed, it is just a really bad image that has an ultimate outcome that I kind of like. Give looking back a try and see what you can come up with your old and awful images. It really helps to stimulate one’s creativity and perception of the possible though admittedly, some / a lot / most of the abandoned images left to fester on our hard drives are just pure rubbish through and through. The TRANSFORMATIONS Exhibition is now open for submissions! TRANSFORMATIONS is one of the largest shows anywhere dedicated to the transformative vision and skills of photographers who freely express their creativity by whatever means they choose. We’re back for our the 5th show and things are a bit different this year - what isn’t! This year’s show will be all digital and will be presented on-line, but the principle is the same If you have been rejected from other shows or ...your work questioned because you use textures, composites, filters, or any of the other wonderful tools available to create your own vision, then you have found your home! Welcome to TRANSFORMATIONS! To make things more exciting this year, we have revised the categories, made the awards higher, and are setting up a system so that you and your fellow entrants will select the award winners. No more moaning about the judges and you’ll get a chance to see just how hard it is to select the best from so many great entries! We’re looking forward to seeing the great work created in these strange times and putting on the best TRANSFORMATIONS Exhibition yet!
