Happy #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth! Emily is Brandon's sister, and she comes over every weekday to assist Brandon with his zooms for school and different the...rapies. She primes him, sets a timer and give him lots of encouragement. Brandon is non-verbal and communicates via a communication app on his iPad, as well as some sign language and gesturing. Emily validates everything he tries to communicate, even if it looks like a challenging behavior. She always responds with empathy and kindness, no matter how he attempts to communicate. Since she began working with him back in March, his communication has blossomed on the iPad, especially during his zooms. He now greets his teachers and classmates, answers questions, and even makes funny comments to the class. He was even called the class clown by one of the aides in his classroom, to which Brandon replied, "Don't talk about me." :) Needless to say, we are all thrilled with Brandon's progress, and we know it has so much to do with Emily's care and encouragement!

Today on Andrew’s Adventures told by Andrew’s staff, Ed: First Andrew and I visited Fort Ligonier. Even though we couldn’t go inside, I taught him about the history and the importance of this Fort. It served as a British fort, that was a hub for both communication and supplies during the French and Indian War. It also served as a staging point to Fort Pitt. So in essence, Fort Ligonier helped in the creation of Pittsburgh! Next, Andrew and I stopped at Ligonier’s Town Squ...are and Gazebo celebrating the sights and sounds of Christmas! They had Christmas music playing in the background. Last but not least, We stopped in front of the actual childhood home of Mr. Fred Rodgers in Latrobe. I promised that we would come back and visit the nearby museum when we are allowed to go back into buildings!
