With the Covid19 virus lockdown continuing, we are seeing an increase in parents bringing their children into the cemetery. Some are allowing their young children to run free and climb on the old, heavy grave stones. I cannot stress enough how dangerous this is for the children who could have a large marker fall on top of them. The trustees work hard to maintain the grounds and its great to see people walk around to see the history of our community. We love to see people sitt...ing on a bench reading. We want to be able to allow those who have family buried here, to visit and decorate their family members final resting place. We know that with all of the parks and playgrounds being closed, that you may need a place to take the kids. The cemetery is not that place. We are asking that parents with young children please, for your child's protection, please do not allow your children on or around any headstone inside our cemetery. It may require locking the gates entirely until this virus passes and the City Government reopens the rec center and parks. We are going to leave the gates open between now and Mothers Day to allow visits to family Graves. We will make a decision soon about the gates being unlocked after Mothers Day. We appreciate everyone understanding that this is a safety issue and nothing more. We love sharing the oldest history of The Fishtown Community with all. We only hope that everyone respects the history as much as we do. See more

We will be doing a community clean up around and inside PALMER CEMETERY on March 21st, 2020 beginning at 930am. If you can put together a group or grab a few friends, it would be greatly appreciated. Clean up will include trash and as much leaf debris thats left from the fall. If you have a loved one buried at our historic cemetery, it would be a great time to clean on and around the gravesite. ALL GROUPS WELCOME TO HELP....IF YOU NEED COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS, WE WILL HELP WITH THIS AS WELL. Thanks! P.S. We could use the paper leaf bags and work gloves if anyone would like to donate. Shovels and brooms will be available.

Thank You to everyone who came out tonight to start the Christmas season in Fishtown. A very nice crowd saw the wonderful youngsters from St. Laurentius entertain with several great Christmas Carols, a visit from Santa and of course some hot chocolate and cookies. This was our 9th year for the tree Lighting, and we hope that this tradition will carry on for a very long time. Thanks again to all who helped out. Merry Christmas to all. Palmer Cemetery Trustees

A Huge Thank You to the Penn Treaty Special Services District for their continued support of The Palmer Cemetery. From day 1, The PTSSD has done everything that was asked of them to help our HISTORIC cemetery. From sidewalks to fencing to tree work and more tree work, to name just a few of the improvements that PTSSD Grant's have made possible. Along with the generous support of the neighbors and our fundraising, The PTSSD Grant's have taken the care of the cemetery to a new level. Thanks to all of you on the PTSSD Team for your guidance and help. The entire community owes you a big THANKS! PALMER CEMETERY TRUSTEES

SALUTING OUR VETERANS It's not hard to find a Veterans Grave when you walk around or through Palmer Cemetery. We have veterans from every War, possibly from The French and Indian War in the 1750s. Revolutionary War Veterans, Civil War Vets, Spanish American, WWI, WWII, Korea, Viet Nam and Veterans who served in more recent battles. Some Veterans may have served in peace time, All Deserve Our Thanks for the sacrifices made to make sure we have as much freedom as we do. These photos are just two of the many markers set at the graves of those who served. Thank you one and all for your service from the Trustees of Palmer Cemetery!
