So sad to share the passing of our wonderful landlord and owner of Kool Cones, Carl Morgano. 17 years ago I saw a for rent sign in the window next to an ice cream store. I called and spoke to a man named Carl. I'll be honest, his gruff exterior intimidated me at the beginning, but soon Carl was telling me stories of the North Hills through the ages. In the seventeen years since I first met Carl, he redid our awning, put in new floors that were good for tap shoes (even lett...ing me pick out the color), rushed over on a holiday when we were flooded and fixed more lights, furnaces, air conditioners and sump pumps that I can count. And in all that time, Carl never raised our rent. I always enjoyed seeing Carl as we both came and went.
