First stage of the second painting of a two piece commission (of St. Benedict and St. Scholastica). I have to share a glory story about finding this model y’all.... Ever since having a baby I stay in a lot, and I really don’t know a lot of people in my area. When I got asked to paint St. Benedict I had some anxiety, because I couldn’t think of how I was going to find an old man with a big beard to model for me. But I prayed for God to take care of it. I asked him to send someone to me. Well a few days later I was in my living room and I looked out the window and saw a construction truck pull up to my neighbor’s house. And out climbed a man who was PERFECT for what I need! I knew right away that God had sent me a model. So I went outside and talked to him. He’s a super friendly Italian man who was willing to model and did so right then. You know what’s really funny? He was born close to Norcia (where Benedict was born and founded an abbey).
