The pandemic has caused more folks to can and preserve their own food, or that of a local farm. I'd say this is a good thing! https://www.syracuse.com//no-can-do-pandemic-canning-trend
Got ACORNS? I'll pick them up! We have two pigs and they make a great feed for them, as well as making excellent tasting pork!
So.....we pulled our first frame of honey!!!

Just a quick word....we have pastured eggs available right now, as our hens have been very, very productive! In addition to fresh pasture, our hens are fed non GMO, soy free, chemical free feed. Send us a message or give us a ring!
The amazing super powers of chickens!
Moving the chickens one last time. One hundred and fifty chickens. Fourty-five days on pasture. Ninety moves. That's twice a day, every day. More moves = more grass and bugs. More grass and bugs = a healthier, more nutritious meat, with a ton of Omega 3's and Vitamin D. That's what sets our chicken worlds apart from mere 'Organic' chicken, which removes the bad stuff, but doesn't give an ever fresh supply of tasty greens and insects. Did I mention they taste absolutely... delicious?! We're harvesting tomorrow, so we'll have a fresh supply of whole chickens, parts, and even hearts and livers(super nutritious). PM for pricing or to order.
Today we.....well, I, since I'm the one with the suit.....transferred the honey bees from their swarm trap to their permanent hive. Come out and see it tomorrow. We'll be having tours of our farm starting at 9:30 and 1:00. See you then!
In order to meet increased demand, we've expanded our flock, which means right now we have pullet eggs, in addition to our regular eggs! Same great eggs, just smaller. Priced at $3.50/dozen.
We have bees! Time to put this hive....and what I've learned... to the test. The learning never ends, though, because I got stung a fair amount today while checking on them. I did learn that they build comb extremely fast, and that I do need a proper bee suit.
PSA: FREEZE warning tonight. Cover your plants. It doesn't have to look pretty, just cover them!
