Year end message from our Executive Director

The Patrician Society greatly appreciates the recent donation from customers of GIANT Food Stores in their recent Bag Hunger campaign. The GIANT Company's ELIMINATING HUNGER campaign dollars will be used for the purchase of food to stock our Emergency Food Cupboard. We are deeply grateful for all of this kindness. With the help of many generous donors we are supporting more than 1,200 families in the greater Norristown, Pennsylvania area who are struggling financially and are being served here all through the year.

We are always grateful to the Visitation B.V.M. Community for all of their support throughout the year.

Sometimes the incidentals are as significant as the staples to a family in need. The Patrician Society Emergency Food Cupboard has been helping more than 1,200 needy families with food, toiletries, cleaning products, and diapers. Our less widely known H.U.M.A.N. Program (Housing, Utilities, Miscellaneous Aid for Neighbors) aids verifiably needy clients with partial rental payments, utility bills, heating oil, and various types of assistance including -Septa Key cards, bus ...fare, gasoline cards (for clients needing to get to work) -Prescription co-pays -Phone/internet bills (for parents to stay in touch with teachers, family, work, etc.) -Purchase of fans, space heaters -Driver’s licenses, birth certificates, various ID’s -Co-pay at CHOP -Uninsured doctor and dentist bills -Exterminator service for household with bedbugs Contact us to find out how you can support the families who come to us with so many vital needs.

The Patrician Society Emergency Food Cupboard has received a significant donation from The GIANT Company through customer contributions in 2021. We are grateful for the GIANT grant (pun intended) which will be used to purchase food, diapers, and other necessary household items for our client families.

We had the assistance of an actual Elf in our Emergency Food Cupboard on December 23. It was great to help make the day merry and bright for 64 families. Our volunteers make the day merry EVERY DAY!

We are grateful to the students at Central Montco Technical High School, Dr. Angie King, and Chef Melanie Wheeler for conducting their recent food drive to help the stock the shelves in our Emergency Food Cupboard.

The Patrician Society staff surrounds Baldwin School student Esther Moola (c) on the last day of her externship. Esther will be greatly missed. We wish her much success in college and in her intended career as a physician.

TV Alert: Jeff Cole, Fox 29 News investigative reporter, did a story last week on the MontCo Anti-Hunger Network (MAHN) in which the Patrician Society figured very prominently. That story is set to air Monday at 10:00pm and again on Tuesday at 5:00pm.

Ancillae Assumpta Academy (Wyncote, PA) conducts a monthly Sneak Up On Hunger food collection among its students to benefit our food cupboard. The deal is that any student who brings in food for the collection gets to wear sneakers on that day! Today, May 14, 2021, marks the 20 year anniversary of this ongoing event which was established by the former school business manager Rita Cullison and undertaken with great vigor by the entire Ancillae Community. The Patrician Society is filled with gratitude for the efforts of the children, parents, and school staff for these past two decades! This photo shows just some of the 508 bags delivered today. Volunteers will sort, stock, and re-package every item for use in our grocery baskets which are distributed regularly all trough the year.

The annual National Association of Letter Carriers' STAMP OUT HUNGER food drive is being conducted this year when the NALC determines it is safe to do so. Thank you to everyone who has been involved through the years in this campaign to feed our less fortunate neighbors. We will post here any important updates received from our friends at the NALC.
