Another #innovative first for the #maritime industry! The Sajir, owned by Hapag-Lloyd AG will be the first mega-container vessel to be converted to dual-fuel operation. The #LNG conversion is scheduled to be completed in early 2021 and is expected to serve as a pilot project for the #shipping industry. Big changes are coming to the Mississippi River which will benefit the many people and businesses that depend on the #waterway for transportation. The US Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District will be deepening the lower portion of the river and using the dredging material to restore a marsh area over the next couple of years. The tricky operation involved multiple vessel-to-vessel lighterages with their #tugboat and 52,000-barrel #barge while maintaining #safety in rough seas.
