On Thursday, May 23rd, local high school students will be honoring a fallen alum of their school, Army LT Fred Kulicke III, who paid the ultimate sacrifice in Dinh Toung, Vietnam in 1969. To honor his legacy, 30+ students and families from Penn Charter, as well as neighbors and civic organizations, will gather for a Spring clean-up and tree planting in Wharton Square Park. Street Trees are free, through both a PHS : Pennsylvania Horticultural Society program and through a Philadelphia Parks & Recreation program called Tree Philly run by the city. The PHS program is actively looking for you to get a tree, and your neighbors will even come plant it for you! You literally don't have to do anything except apply. But the deadline is TODAY 5/7/19! Illegal dumping and trash in South Philly, especially Point Breeze, is our of control.
