It's not everyday that I get inspired by my own work. I have a bit of a cold so I've been drinking chai tea and I didn't even realize that this was the quote on the back of a mug I made quite a few years ago. #quoteoftheday #inspiration #homemademug #maketodaycount #eachdayisagift

The second challenge in the Bibabo Wild Marathon was the letter "P." I have wanted to make a pangolin for some time now, so I figured this was the perfect opportunity. Pangolins are also called "scaly anteaters." They eat mainly ants and termites and most are nocturnal. They carry their young on their back and can also emit an unpleasant smell like a skunk and our critter from the first challenge. Pangolins are the most trafficked mammals in the world, desired for both their scales and meat for use in traditional Chinese medicine, despite lack of evidence indicating it works. I personally find these creatures to be adorable. #bibabowildmarathon #pangolin #pangolinsofinstagram #needlefelt #needlefelting #needlefeltedanimal #fiberartist #feltartist #pawildsmade

For the new year I decided to join a couple of art challenges, and the first one is with the wonderful artist @yara_bibabo. Every two weeks a new letter of the alphabet is chosen and artists create an animal beginning with that letter. The first challenge was the letter, "T." I chose to make a Tate's triok, which is an endangered animal in Papua New Guinea. These little guys look like a mix between a skunk, an opossum, and a sugar glider. They are also called "striped possums...." They are marsupials, and have a defense mechanism that allows them to secret unpleasant odors to keep predators away. I tried something new with this piece in wet felting it after I needle felted it. I still don't like the hands/feet, but the rest of it I'm happy with. #bibabowildmarathon #tatestriok #stripedpossum #feltartist #felted #needlefeltart #wetfeltart #fiberart #pawilds #challenge #felt #sugarglider #opossum #marsupial
