Using herbs foraged, grown or stored in the cupboard, you can make your own herbal salves with oil and beeswax to craft unique and useful products. https://bit.ly/3hAC1Hh
Last week, members of PennApic helped out at Bjorn Apiaries looking for swarm cells and evaluating nucs. It was stinking hot. And not one swarm cell was found. And of course the one hive we did not inspect swarmed the next day! Thank you to those putting in the time to hone their skill in beekeeping. Our youth in beekeeping member also took off time from school to get her hands dirty. Thanks Anjali. Till next time.....
Hello PennApic, I have a hard-back copy of the book seen below. It is brand new and still in its plastic cover. Never opened. I bought some books from the estate of the late Jack Utter. He was one of the first guys that I made contact with when I first started beekeeping. And Jack was a first class, upfront, and as honest as they come. One of Jack's books we gave away as part of our "Youth in Beekeeping" program. And we have several others we will give as door prizes and sur...prise giveaways. This particular book is very nice. And to help recoup some of the funds we spend on such programs, we are auctioning this book off. You can either post your offer here, send me an PM or email at [email protected] On-line they go for more than 50 dollars plus shipping. Please remember this is going to a good cause. And this is one terrific book. So if you would like it for your own collection, please add your offer. Thank you! See more
Fantastic morning working the hives at the UPMC hospital in York. Thank you to those attending. Was a warm and muggy visit that we kept short. The hives look great with no swarm cells. We plan on meeting again in two weeks. And hope others can meet up to help out.
Anjali (center) along with a couple friends, picked up her PennApic donated hive this morning from Bjorn Apiaries. Special thanks to PENNAPIC members Mr & Mrs Garges, Eric Long, John Esser, Mike Thomas, and the general membership of PennApic who helped contribute resources and funds to the Youth in Beekeeping program making this all happen. With limited activities this past year with Covid, it was nice to make this happen this year. We look forward to helping more young people get involved in beekeeping. And Anjali is busy spreading her new found passion with others.
This is actually funny! Please note: Each time he lifted the top box up, even an inch or two, you smash bees when you set it back down. he made many bees upset, before he dumped the frames. While we have many new beekeepers in PennApic, I trust that we are not learning by this "Trial & Error". Enjoy! P.S......We will be inspecting bees Sunday morning. It will go better than this guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4vXJxN_bg4
