The Student Government Association last night passed SB 007: The IDEA Act, creating a permanent committee on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility. Through this new committee, we hope to continually direct the student government's attention toward these important areas and encourage inclusion in all that we do. We are thrilled for our Senator at-Large for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Kailan Marshall, to act as the inaugural committee chair. This semester, two n...ew advocacy campaigns will be run out of the IDEA committee. First, the Faith Space Campaign, which is being spearheaded by our Senator for Nursing, Samar Alquraish, will advocate for a space to allow students to practice and express their faith. Second, the Inclusion Center Campaign, which is being spearheaded by our Senator at-Large for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Kailan Marshall, will advocate for a center to provide resources supporting the range of diverse identities present at Penn College. Senators are presented with opportunities to solve challenging problems, work with members of the administration, and meet other passionate student leaders.
