This interactive free lecture will cover mindset, tactics and skills as it pertains to tower ladder operations in various scenarios. Rescue 8 along with numerous other companies working a vehicle into a building with fire and entrapment this morning along the 300 block of Manor Ave in Station 21’s first due. Chief 21 arrived with a single vehicle into a building on fire with 1 trapped. Rescue 8 arrived and crew split to handle fire suppression while simultaneously beginning extrication efforts. Crew placed a 1.75 hand-line inservice while also placing the grip hoist into service using Engine 21 as an anchor point to pull the vehicle away from the building as the extrication began. As companies arrived they where put to work by command to assist with operations and extrication.

Engine 8 and Engine 82 working an auto fire a short time ago along the eastbound lanes of I-295. 82’s arrived with an auto well off along the slow shoulder at mile marker 1.2 and went in service. Engine 8 arrived a short time later and assisted with suppression efforts.

Rescue 8 along with many other companies from Lower Bucks County working a 2 alarm fire overnight in Bristol Borough. First in units had fire showing from the rear and the cockloft of a 2 story taxpayer and went inservice. A second alarm was sounded by command which brought Rescue 8 to the scene from quarters. After making the 8+ mile response the Rescue was initially assigned RIT and set up in Side C after performing a 360 degree size up of the building. As first alarm units needed relief, the Rescue’s crew was re assigned to division 2 to open up, perform secondary searches and overhaul. After being in service for approximately 45 minutes the Rescue returned to town.

Ladder and Rescue 8 working a fire in Station 88’s first due this afternoon. Just after 1pm tactical box 88-1 was dispatched for a reported house fire on the 6100 block of Hulmeville Road in Bensalem. First in DC-44 had smoke showing from the rear of a single story rancher and additionally reported the entire back of the house well off. Ladder 8 arrived as the first due Ladder Company and went to work accordingly while the Rescue was added on the working fire dispatch. After overcoming multiple obstacles throughout the incident the fire was placed under control by the Newport Command in about an hour.

Rescue 8 just clearing this fire in Station 22’s first due. First in crews had a fire in a single story commercial recycling facility and Rescue 8 was added on the working fire. Upon the arrival of Rescue 8 crew was assigned RIT and later assisted with ventilation. Crews made quick work of the fire and the incident was placed under control in about a half hour.

Rescue Co. 8 with tools working this morning on Interstate 295. At around 5:15 this morning Rescue Box 8-295 was dispatched sending Rescue 8 along with Rescue 82 and Engine 7 to the Westbound Lanes of 295 at exit 3 for a report of one vehicle off the road with 1 trapped. Rescue 8 arrived with the corrected location of the westbound lanes at mile marker 1.5 and confirmed 1 trapped. Rescue 8 went inservice with stabilization along with a drivers door removal and preparing to push the dash if needed. Engine 7 handled the fire suppression duties while Rescue 82 assisted with the extrication upon their arrival. Extrication was complete 9 minutes after the arrival of Rescue 8 and patient turned over to Medic 168.

Engine and Rescue 8 assisting Station 21 this afternoon for a small fire in an garage of a house. Crews from Station 21/22 arrived with smoke showing from an attached garage and went in service accordingly. Engine 8 arrived and was assigned several Truck Co. functions including laddering the house, opening up and ventilation. A small fire was found in the garage and extinguished, crews in service for about 1 hour for ventilation and overhaul.

As plan approval and construction of our new Tower quickly approaches the truck committee took a ride this morning to Northampton County to take a look at a recent delivery. Thanks to Lower Saucon Fire for the hospitality as we took a look at the new Truck 1621!

Rescue 8 along with Rescue 9 and Engine 7 working an extrication this morning. Just before 5:30 Rescue Box 9-12 was dispatched at West Lincoln Highway and Neshaminy Street for a reported multi vehicle accident with 1 trapped. Rescue 8 arrived with a 3 vehicle accident involving a trash truck and confirmed one entrapped. Crews went to work to extricate and to mitigate the hazards on all the vehicles involved. Extrication was quickly completed and Medic 168 transported.

Ladder 8 on the streets this evening to deliver Santa to the annual Penndel Borough tree lighting, this years event was held virtually. A couple hours prior to the Santa detail the Ladder, Rescue and Chief along with multiple other companies operated at back to back box alarms around the Oxford Valley Mall complex. Crews had an electrical surge and issues with a generator at the Mall. Ladder 8 went in service to investigate while Rescue 8 checked the Lincoln Plaza Shopping Center. After a short time the incident was mitigated and the incident scaled back.

Members working on some basic rope rescue skills this evening for training. Tonight’s scenario simulated a working experiencing a medical emergency on a roof and needing rescue. Using the Ladder along with some basic rope rescue gear the patient was packaged and then lowered safely to the ground.

Ladder 8 and Ladder 65 with the flag detail this morning to honor Nottingham Fire Department life member Frederick J. Sponheimer who recently passed away. Fred was a member of Station 65 since 1973 and served in many roles with the company over the decades. Our thoughts are with the Sponheimer’s and the entire Nottingham family during these difficult times.

Engine and Chief 8 arrived with an auto well involved in the westbound lanes at mile marker 1.7 and went inservice to extinguish. Rescue 82 arrived and provided blocking to help ensure scene safety as crews operated.
