Was this you? We found these great signs along the waterfront and would love to hear from the artist who thought what we are thinking -- POLLINATOR GARDEN! We are early in the planning process but hope to plant this spring. Liatris Spicata, Seaside Goldenrod, and Milkweed are officially on the planting list. Thanks for sharing your vision. More information on how to get involved with gardening and projects at Penn Treaty Park coming soon, but for now, what are your favorite pollinator plants? What would you like to see planted in the park?

Philadelphia Parks & Recreation welcomes our four-legged friends and their owners to our properties. City Council ordinance requires that dogs be on a six-foot or shorter leash and that owners clean up after their pets. See Philadelphia Ordinance Chapter 10, Sections 104 and 105 for complete rules: * Help keep your park clean and safe for all to enjoy by picking up after your dog and using the trash cans. * Always obey park or playground signs....Continue reading

Hi All, We hope to enlist everyone's help to locate a child's lost silver Phonak model hearing aid with a green ear mold. It was lost at the Park on Saturday 1/2. Please reach out if you have found it or have any leads at all. We much appreciate any help that anyone can give. Pictured below is a newer model. As mentioned, the missing hearing aid has a green ear mold where the photo has blue.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers for tucking the trees in for winter! In a little over 2 hours you were able to mulch and care for more than 30 trees in the park including our beloved Historic Elm tree and the young and newly planted trees. The Rose Garden is looking so neat after being weeded and cleaned up. Near the playground, some larger trees are breathing easier with the removal of girdling roots and grass. We were so fortunate to have Damean Snyder and Matthew Dera... volunteer on Sunday. They are local arborists who worked around the playground digging out and replanting 2 sunken trees and thoughtfully removing 2 dead trees, leaving no stump/tripping hazard insight. Thank you for your amazing work! A very special thank you to Jacelyn Blank and Nykia Perez Kibler from the Philly Tree People for sharing their expertise and tools and guiding us in caring for Penn Treaty Park's trees. Your love for trees inspires us all. http://www.phillytreepeople.org/ We thought we were closed up for the winter, but resounding interest has inspired us to add another Service Day in late January. More details coming soon... ***************************************** The Hook, a weekly newsletter for Fishtown, helped support this tree care event. The Friends of Penn Treaty Park will be hosting a FREE (Socially Distanced) Children's Fishing Day on Saturday, 24 October, from 8:00 am - 10:00 am. We will add a second session from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm if the numbers and interest allow. Attendance at this event will be through registration only. We will keep the number of total people present, including volunteers and adult chaperones, to under 25 total participants per session. Please also wear a costume if you would like to... celebrate the time of year! As always, the Friends of Penn Treaty Park will be providing fishing rods and tackle/boxes for the children to keep and take home with them when finished. This day will not be a derby as in years past, but an enjoyable celebration of our connection to the Delaware River. We will recognize any fish caught, the achievements of first time junior anglers as they cast off on perhaps a new hobby, and the cool costumes that may also make an appearance. Please email [email protected] for any questions or thoughts, and if you know of anyone who would love to help mentor any of our participants through example, or to help, socially distanced, with the ever needed stringing of hooks, baiting, etc., please do reach out as well. We require that everyone wear a mask, and recommend that everyone bring sanitizer or soap and water if preferred and water to stay hydrated. We are looking forward to connecting with nature and the water on this fun upcoming day.

Hi Everyone, Please do your best to not release any wildlife in Penn Treaty Park. We just received an email regarding several non-native species released into the park over the past few days. This in addition to several other species of non-native animals that have been spotted in the park regularly or brought to our attention in the past. Please stay tuned for opportunities to get involved in citizen science opportunities, opportunities to clear invasives, and become more involved in environmental education learning and initiatives.
