Ye olde interwebs reminded us that today, in 2015(?!), the #PPC held our first #LadiesNighht event at the storefront. Always a safe space for women to share conversations, solidarity, food, hugs, get together to create and process. The themes were always chosen by conversations our lead #PPCFellow Faith had with women in the neighborhood. We held these regularly for a long time, they were so needed, so powerful, usually ended up full of laughter and tears. Cannot for the time... that they can happen again! Miss all you lovelies! Keep taking care, keep checking in on people you love and let them know they're thought of! PS...@isisthasaviour this was the first time we met! Usually...the least interesting and fulfilling part of our work is emailing...and we do wayyyyyyy to much of it (is it different for anyone?!). However! When we got an email a couple months ago from @haymarketbooks asking if we wanted our art in Angela Davis's new book, we first though we were getting pranked...and then when we realized it was real our heads and hearts almost exploded! Beyond honored and humbled that they chose to use the powerful image created for the Free ...Our Mothers! Sisters! Queens! poster series by @melaniecervantes in collaboration with #PPCFellows ! The image features our lead fellow, Faith and family members of the unstoppable T! Their recently published book, Abolition. Feminism. Now. includes so much artwork alongside powerful words by the assists inspiring Angela Davis, Gina Dent, Erica R. Meiners, and Beth E. Richie! We're super honored that the image made for the Black Mama's Day Bail Out was chosen to be included, and that Haymarket donated to our pals @phillycommunitybailout. This time of year always conjures up all the beautiful folks near and far that we dearly miss. We're smiling wide looking through photos, crying some too, and remembering some holiday markets in the past that we always have so much fun at.
