My clients are always asking for helpful articles about placenta encapsulation. I always send them this one by Megan King, the nurse manager at Lifecycle Womancare because it's an easy and helpful read! Check it out!

One of our placenta and birth doula clients had a baby this week! CONGRATULATIONS! Birth story below: Happy Birthday to a Baby Boy born late Wednesday night! This mama's labor started around 3am with contractions that were two and a half minutes apart. Since she this was her second baby, we decided to play it safe and make the 40 minute drive to the hospital. Then, as soon as she arrived at Lankenau, her contractions spaced out to 30 minutes. So, I grabbed them some breakfa...st (and some castor oil and a milkshake) and we discussed options. She had only progressed to 2cm, but we believed that if we could get up and moving along with chugging a castor oil milkshake, we could get things going. So, that's what we did! By 4pm she was 4cm. Contractions were lengthening and intensifying. She began to wonder how long she could hang in there! So, we made a deal that she would give this labor all she had until 6pm and then we would reevaluate. Well, she powered through, and by 6pm she was 8cm! Within another half an hour she was, 9.5cm with an anterior lip. So, we did a lot of gymnastics! Come on baby, rotate! However, this little one was pretty comfy and the lip kept getting thicker. The urge to push was SO strong and contractions were on top of one another for two hours. Everyone was stumped. What kind of second-time labor gets stuck at 9.5cm?! We were about to call for the epidural, when all of a sudden the baby's heart rate decelerated quickly. There was panic for a moment, and then, with much joy, we all realized that it was because the kid had literally "fallen" into her vagina and was very rapidly on his way to greet the world! Due to his rapid arrival, he had a little air in his lungs and is still being watched in the NICU for a few days until he heals. Parents have been very calm and confident as they have transitioned into being visitors to the hospital once they were discharged. So proud of them! Well Born Baby folks, send this babykins your healing thoughts and prayers so he can go home to meet his amazing big brother! I am grateful to have been a part of both of their birth journeys! What a ride! Much love to you all! ~ Hana See more
