Philadelphia 10's Rugby Tournament

With a heavy heart we are officially cancelling the Philadelphia 10's Rugby Tournament this year. We know that a lot of teams use this tournament to bring their squads together to get ready for their fall season. In the spirit of bringing everyone together (while staying safe distances a part) we will be hosting a virtual 5k for teams to compete in. Medals will be awarded for the fastest times and there will be plaques awarded to the team who has the most ruggers compete and... for the fastest team time. So rally your teammates and get moving! Ruggers, Even with our future as uncertain as it is we still want to plan on having this tournament as scheduled on August 8th at the Pennypack Fields in Northeast Philadelphia the same as last year. As always we offer a discount on teams registering before Memorial Day but we understand with finances tight across the board teams and individuals may not want to commit financially this early. With this being said, if you team registers for this years tournament before Memoria...l Day we will honor the $250 discounted entry fee as long as you pay 2 weeks prior to the tournament which would be July 25th. If the tournament does not happen you will be fully refunded the entry fee no questions asked. We are looking to have 8 men's social teams 8 women's social teams 8 men's premier teams At this time we are just looking to get teams committed so we can build brackets and plan the tournament. We’ve received a few inquiries about our annual 10’s tournament. Currently, the tournament is still on with the hopes that the social distancing guidelines will be lifted by then. Philadelphia 10’s is scheduled for 8/8/2020 and the entry fee is $250 until Memorial Day where it will increase to $300. Payments can be sent via PayPal to [email protected]. *if the social distancing guidelines are extending through the summer and require us to cancel, full refunds will be issued.

Teams, Last Information Post before tomorrow. 1. Philadelphia will not be opening the gates until 7:30am. Our first kickoffs are not until 8:35am so this should not be an issue. All the Irish teams, Brandywine/PAC women, Blackthorn men, and the Scrum Rags will all be kicking off at 8:35am. ... 2. Captains meeting will be held at 8:00am. Please make sure you have a team representative in attendance. Vicky Crosier is going to be your head referee for the day. 3. This should go without saying but if anybody receives a red card for referee abuse or foul play it will be reported to your governing union. This is a friendly tournament so lets all have fun and relax. 4. Steamroller Rugby will be there selling gear and tournament shirts. They do accept credit cards. 5. There is a football tournament going off at 9am and they are using 2 fields so parking may be tight. Try to arrive as early as possible. We have 3 fields all right next to each other so we should be easy to spot. 6. Trainers will be thee at 8:00am. If you need ankle tapped or anything please bring your own tape. We have supplies ready for injuries but we do not have enough tape for everybody's ankles and wrists. 7. We will be providing everybody with trash bags upon check-in. Please try to monitor your trash and clean up accordingly so we can move to the after party at the end of the tournament. That's all I have for now. ATTENTION ALL TEAMS, Attached you will find the Schedule for this weekend. It is color coded based off of the division you are playing in. We only have 5 teams in the men's social division so each team will play each other and the top 2 ranked teams will play for the championship. For the Women's & Men's Premier we have 6 teams. Each team will have 3 games that were randomly generated. After 3 games the top 4 will make it to a 4 team playoff and then play for the championshi...p. With the amount of teams we have this year and utilizing 3 fields we are going to push back the start time to 8:35am, I built in 2 small breaks during the day where you can stop, hydrate, eat some food, and then we can move on. All championship games will be played at 3pm so we can end at 3:30 packup and head on over to the after party that starts at 4pm. Hope everyone is excited for the tournament coming up this weekend. Both game field locations and after party locations this year have changed. ... This years tournament will be held at the Pennypack on the Delaware River fields. The address is 8201 State Road, Philadelphia PA, 19136 The after party will be at Currans Irish Inn. 6900 State Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19136. Games will start at 8:00am. Check In will start at 7:00am. We will be grilling cheeseburgers and hot dogs this year for sale. Please plan to pay cash. There will be 2 certified athletic trainers on site to take care of any injuries.
