Signed, sealed, delivered.... 500 letters to encourage voting. I'm just one of 145,000+letter writing volunteers who was happy to contribute to this project #Th...eBigSend. Because of all of our efforts, led by the team at voteforward.org, 15 million letters are going in the mail today encouraging voting all over the country. Vote Forward I took the time to do this, every day, over a 2 month period because I believe that every vote counts. I hope you'll take the time to vote. If you want to join me in encouraging others to vote, please share this post. Thanks! See more

ALICE The Society of Scribes in NewYork City, and indeed the entire global calligraphy community, mourns the passing of the legendary A...lice on October 6. Alice was one of the founding members of the SOS in 1974 and remained a towering presence throughout her life. Her masterful designs, spirited drawings and pulsating letterforms were a continuous fount of inspiration to all. Alice taught a number of workshops in New York, Japan, South Africa, Camp Cheerio, and a number of the annual conferences. Indeed, her influence was felt far and wide. She could appear tough and feisty, and she never held back in expressing her opinions. To someone first making her acquaintance she may have seemed intimidating and formidable, but one immediately warmed to her tongue-in-cheek wit and compassionate nature, always only too happy to render advice and sincere criticism. Her critiques were forthright and honest, and always given with the motive of inspiring the students to do their best She attended every Holiday Fair and dazzled the onlookers with her fresh, spontaneous designs, and she came to almost every SOS gathering, often demonstrating a new tool or helping students with their lettering and layouts. Alice embodied the essence of great calligraphy and all the components that make it an exceptional art form, and she constantly inspired us to study and reach for the heights. There will never be another Alice, a lady unparalleled, and we are the richer for having known her. Rest In peace, dear Alice, you will forever live in our memories with gratitude and deep affection.
Remembering ALICE ... whose passing yesterday deeply saddened the global calligraphy community. www.facebook.com/groups/scribesmemorial Rest in peace, Alice. Rest in peace.
