Portrait of Benjamin Franklin: By Mason Chamberlin in England, Europe; 1762 Mason Chamberlin was an English portrait painter, who was one of the founding members of the Royal Academy in 1768. He is perhaps best known for a portrait of Benjamin Franklin, commissioned by wealthy Virginian landowner and friend of Franklin's in London, Colonel Philip Ludwell III, and painted from life in 1762. It shows Franklin seated in his study with lightning striking outside the window in ...the background, and a lightning rod on his house. He looks to the left at a set of lightning bells (a device of his own invention), which would ring to signal when lightning was striking the rod. Franklin could then use the electricity in order to perform his experiments. :https://philamuseum.org/collections/permanent/56760.html & https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mason_Chamberlin See more

Portrait of Benjamin Franklin: By Anne-Rosalie Bocquet Filleul in France, Europe; 1778 or 1779 Filleul and her husband were on friendly terms with Benjamin Franklin, who may have sat for this portrait as a personal favor. In 1779 Louis Jacques Cathelin (1738-1804) made an engraving after the painting that was published the same year by Filleul's father, Blaise Bocquet. The map on the table is labeled PHILADELPHIA. :https://philamuseum.org/collections/permanent/296847.html

Medallion of Benjamin Franklin: By Jean-Baptiste Nini in Europe; 1777 Clay medallions of Benjamin Franklin were among the earliest portraits of the statesman available in France. Their maker, Nini, worked for Jacques Donatien Le Ray de Chaumont, Franklin's pro-American landlord. Franklin sent one example to his daughter Sarah and her husband, Richard Bache, who thought the medallion a better likeness than the print by Augustin de Saint-Aubin, which Franklin also sent them. :https://philamuseum.org/collections/permanent/82740.html

Portrait of Benjamin Franklin in a Fur Cap: By Augustin de Saint-Aubin in Paris, France, Europe; 1777 The publication of this image, one of the earliest to appear after Benjamin Franklin's arrival in Paris, was mentioned in French newspapers in the summer of 1777; the portrait was quickly copied in other mediums. Cochin's subtle rendering-showing Franklin glancing to one side with his head slightly turned, his mouth about to open-may have influenced Houdon's later portrayal. : https://philamuseum.org/collections/permanent/50121.html

All about the Benjamins Century Vase: By Roberto Lugo in Philadelphia, PA, USA; 2016 "Here you will find Benjamin Franklin as you’ve never seen him before. Philadelphia-born artist Roberto Lugo riffs on the traditional representations of Franklin found throughout the cityones that celebrate him as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. You can see one such stately portrayal of Franklin directly behind you, in gallery 384. Lugo places Franklin within a constellation of songs, symbols, and rappers’ namesones that shaped his childhood and adult life. The artist also includes his own self-portrait on the other side of the vase, creating an imagined dialogue between himself and Franklin around the themes of money, history, violence, and success." https://philamuseum.org/collections/permanent/338004.html#

Over our almost 268-year history as a company, we have weathered many storms and been through quite a few historic events! To name a few historical events we weathered; The Occupation of Philadelphia by the British in 1777. The Yellow Fever Epidemics from 1793-1798. The Economic Depression of 1837 - 1842.... The Civil War. WWI. The Stock Market Crash of 1929. WWII. We love our history and are proud of our place throughout many major historical events! The photo below shows the minutes of the Board Meeting in 1793 at the start of the Yellow Fever Epidemic and the other photo shows our courtyard when it was turned into a Victory Garden in 1943 during WWII.

How AMAZING is this post from our agency partners @cantrillclarkinc we work with the best agents Posted @withrepost @cantrillclarkinc Swipe Left To Open Envelope! #BensDayIsWednesday There is a very good reason as to why @cantrillclarkinc created a hashtag just for Benjamin Franklin. Although Franklin is well known for his many inventions and discoveries, we pay homage to his role in organizing the very first Insurance of Houses from Loss by Fire property insu...rance company in the United States. ...Originally Franklin co-founded the #UnionFireCompany in 1736 (aka the Bucket Brigade) which was the first formally organized all volunteer fire company in the colonies. In a time where fires were known to consume a whole block of houses, Franklin’s Bucket Brigade had gotten the average loss of buildings due to fire in Philadelphia, down to one or two buildings. ...For these still unfortunate losses, Franklin organized The Philadelphia Contributionship insurance company in 1752. In the beginning, the company directors met at various public places, such as taverns and courthouses. Finally in 1835, land was purchased for a permanent headquarters and the building that houses the insurance company today, is still the same building. Located at 212 South 4th Street in Philadelphia’s Society Hill section of the city, is the beautiful brick building with Corinthian columns in front. The building was designed by #ThomasUWalter (original sketch of the building pictured in collage) and was designated as a #NationalHistoricLandmark in 1977. ... photos by: Kate Hill Cantrill // : "Benjamin Franklin, the Fireman" painting by C.
