Today marks PhilaMOCA's 10th Anniversary! Gavin officially opened the doors ten years ago today, taking over the building from Diplo as he moved on to much bigger things. Our hearing date is finally scheduled for a week from today, which will determine the terms of our reopening, I'll post an update as soon as I have it!

Very sad to hear about the passing of Clark Middleton from TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN and so many other great projects including SIN CITY, KILL BILL, and SNOWPIERCER. Clark was the surprise guest for the 2018 Eraserhood Forever, joined on stage by his on-screen wife Sherilyn Fenn, and was seriously one of the friendliest and most casual guests we've ever hosted. Godspeed, Charlie, we'll always remember you. Photo by Arin Sang-urai.

For those who have reached out, we had to dismantle the Eraserhood mural due to roof damage caused by the structure that held it up. Roof is all patched now and we’ll have something new up there eventually. In other news, I’m working on the 2020 installment of Eraserhood Forever, it’s a bit ambitious, but I’m trying to make it work. Details soon...

I'll make a brief appearance on this week's installment of the fantastic found footage showcase Museum of Home Video tonight at 10:30 EST, they'll be showcasing a compilation I made a few years ago that focuses on a legend of late night local programming. Highly recommended!

Something to brighten this rainy day, I cut this "Best Of" for David Liebe Hart's Junior Christian Science Bible Lesson Program back in 2013, it screened at PhilaMOCA and at L.A.'s Cinefamily during a public access retrospective program. Lots of laughs in here, enjoy!

Update via our GoFundMe: Just a quick update since it's been a while...currently waiting on our hearing date, which should arrive any day now, that's where we'll discuss the new night club code issues that need to be addressed. I spent this past month getting verification that the balcony can hold the weight I requested (50 people). We had to cut a lot of holes in walls and ceilings to see how the entire balcony was constructed 100 years ago, I needed the dimensions of the ...wood and metal supports, how they are spaced out, how they attach to the walls, etc. Then an architect drew it all up and last week a structural engineer wrote the required letter for approval of 50 people so that's been submitted, another minor victory. I'm still keeping up with rent and utilities and hopefully still have enough to take care of the construction that will result from the hearing. It's been almost a year now since we were shut down, but it still feels like yesterday. The next update will be post-hearing and will hopefully be filled with good news, fingers crossed. See more

Here's a compilation of Joe Bob Briggs appearances from Monstervision On TNT that I edited for the April 2006 appearance of JBB at PhilaMOCA. This hasn't been seen since that event and was used soon thereafter as part of a pitch for a new JBB show. He's on Shudder now so maybe this and the other compilations from that night played a part, who knows?

Quick update via our GoFundMe: We're still in the occupancy number stage; I finally have the latest batch of L&I-required building plans and info together and am submitting everything this week. There are a few building issues that do not completely conform to the codes that apply to our new zoning status as a "night club" and I'll have to go to a hearing in front of a building commission to address those points. I'll also likely have to find an attorney or someone in the ...know to accompany me as I'll be way out of my element. I can't be specific about the issues at this time, but I am hopeful that they can be worked around with some minor construction though this is ultimately in the hands of the commission. I keep thinking back to when we were shut down in September and the L&I inspectors laid out everything that had to be done to reopen and it seemed relatively reasonable and do-able, but the further things have progressed, the more complicated they have become. I'll definitely share the intricacies of everything that's been happening once we've progressed a bit further, fingers crossed for now. See more

THIS MONDAY (6/22) is the last day that you can order our custom Vans! Proceeds benefit the reopening of PhilaMOCA, which we're still working on, currently getting L&I new building plans and will eventually have to attend a hearing with the building commission in order to hopefully get permission to use our balcony with some additional construction. We'll happily share more details soon once things progress a bit further. In the meantime, you can order the limited custom Vans here: https://www.vans.com/footthebill

Now available to rent: PhilaMOCA presents a virtual screening of the critically-acclaimed indie feature FOURTEEN in which a mentally ill woman's decline over the course of a decade is seen through her longtime best friend's eyes. $12 rental; screening link: https://grasshopperfilm.vhx.tv//philamoca-presents-fourteen... Mara and Jo, in their twenties, have been close friends since middle school. Jo, the more outgoing figure, is a social worker who runs through a series of brief but intense relationships. Mara, a less splashy personality than Jo, bounces among teacher aide jobs while trying to land a position in elementary education, and writes fiction in her spare time. She too has a transient romantic life, though she seems to settle down after meeting Adam, a mild-mannered software developer. It soon becomes apparent that Jo, despite her intellectual gifts, is unreliable in her professional life, losing and acquiring jobs at a troubling rate. Substance abuse may be responsible for Jo’s instability but some observers suspect a deeper problem. Over the course of a decade, the more stable Mara sometimes tries to help, sometimes backs away to preserve herself, but never leaves behind her powerful childhood connection with Jo. A wonderful, subtly devastating film from a voice in American independent cinema that will hopefully become better known." Ian Mantgani, Little White Lies
