A public hearing will be held on June 8th at 6:00PM to comment on Invenergy power plant's air permit. This power plant is expected to be an additional major source of air pollution in the Mon Valley when Allegheny County already has an 'F' rating for air quality, and the power generated would be sold out-of-state. This week three of the biggest oil producers have been told to reduce fossil fuel production. Shareholders at Chevron, an activist hedge fund at Exxon, and the Dutch court with Shell have all said that they need to find a new business model and move away from fossil fuels as their main product. People are starting to take climate change activism into their own hands since government has been too slow.

Mental Health calls need a response from trauma-informed professionals. Our hearts break for this family and all affected by the ongoing acute continuing trauma of those harmed and killed by police and teh fear of such a scenario happening at any given time. The cry to defund police is because the fatal, armed response, is not the right response to a call to 911 for a mental health issue. We can and must do better.
