Every home that becomes uninhabitable and abandoned or crumbles due to disrepair is one fewer home available to mitigate the affordable housing crisis. Kudos to all of our members and partners who’ve already laid the groundwork with a proven strategy to keep our neighbors safe and healthy at home: RT Philadelphia, Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia, Clarifi, Healthy Rowhouse Project, LISC Philly, and Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation. Passing a 1% Construction Impact Tax would keep Philadelphians in the affordable home they already know and love
Rest Well, Linda! We will miss you <3
We were very saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and fellow member Linda Richardson. Our deepest and most sincere condolences to Linda's family and loved ones. Thank you, Linda for daring to reimagine Uptown Theater and for being such a valued member of our community for all these years. Your legacy continues!
This is wonderful news! Such well-deserved recognition for 35 years of extraordinary work in Hunting Park! Esperanza: Strengthening Hispanic Communities changed the game for all of us. "We are not poor. We have two cultures we could live in, two languages that are primary, we have two perspectives in life that are different, so we are not poor. We are rich." Best wishes for a full recovery, Rev. Cortes! Can't wait to see what you accomplish when you return from sabbatical. We'll be taking notes.
Our communities need supercharged investments in affordable homes and small businesses NOW, and we can't wait to see if Washington will act! PACDC is proud to support legislation to create a Construction Impact Tax and $400M bond issue to bring equitable development and recovery to our neighborhoods. These funds could be a gamechanger across our city! It means we could buy vacant properties on our corridors, fix them up, and boost ownership of property and businesses for peo...ple of color in our neighborhoods, instead of absent and out-of-state investors. Seniors could get help to make their homes more accessible and to remove tripping hazards. Lower-income homeowners that have been unable to make critical repairs could get new roofs, heaters repaired, and the plumbing leaks fixed. Thanks, Maria Gonzalez of HACE CDC and Majeedah Rashid of Nicetown CDC for leading the charge on this. Let's get it done!
Let’s GOOOO, Philly! It’s our time to shine

2020 can't stop PACDC Members, and they will keep serving no matter what. That’s why CDCs had a $5.4 billion dollar impact since 1992 and why we’ll need them to keep investing to recover from COVID-19 and advance racial equity. We're sending 5.4B thank yous to Seamaac, Inc., People's Emergency Center (PEC), NKCDC, Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia, and Rebuilding Together Philadelphia for trusting us to share the story of your incredible work.
