PHEW!

As you've probably heard, the City of Philadelphia has announced the closure of non-essential businesses to help diminish the spread of Covid 19. We think this is wise. Are bicycles essential? Are cars essential? Is transit essential? Apparently, bike shops are considered non-essential.... Our business, PHEW! - Philly Electric Wheels, is a bike shop focused on transportation. During this time of uncertainty, when we're closing fitness centers and cancelling dance events in an effort to physically distance ourselves, we need to ask... how should one travel? Our shop has remained open so far, with a few changes. We keep the door locked and allow only one customer at a time into the shop. We have a hand cleaning station by our front door. We wipe down the grips on any bike someone has touched. We would like to remain open for repairs. All modes of transportation are essential. It's time we acknowledged that bikes are an essential mode of transportation.
