Presented by Dr. Scott Giacomucci, DSW, LCSW, BCD, FAAETS, PAT Relationships are one of the most important aspects of anyone’s life. Relationships have the power to promote safety, healing, and happiness as well as trauma, neglect, and hopelessness. Jacob Moreno’s theory of interpersonal relations is articulated through the social atom. The social atom, is a relational map which depicts an individual within the web of their closest relationships an individual is tied to his social atom as closely as to his body. The importance of relationships, a social work core value, is further established through interpersonal neurobiology research. This workshop will present the social atom, a foundational sociometry/psychodrama tool. The social atom will be offered as a person-in-environment assessment as well as a warm-up process for psychodramatic action. Note: this event will include powerpoint, theory, self-reflection, sociometry, and a psychodrama process Learning Objectives: -Define the Social Atom -Describe one way the social atom relates to social work -Explain one use of the social atom in clinical work

Have you registered yet? Role Theory in Action: The Self Emerges From Roles January 13th 4:00 7:00pm (EST) 3 CE Hours Register for this workshop at www.phoenixtraumacenter.com/training... Dr. Scott Giacomucci, DSW, LCSW, BCD, FAAETS, PAT Zoom Workshop | Cost: $80; $60 students; (if cost is your only barrier to attending, write to us) This workshop will offer a mix of didactic teaching, pen/paper exercises for role assessment, and experiential role-playing. The personality, or the self, is composed of all the roles one plays in their life. Role theory offers a foundational and non-pathologizing understanding of the self in a biopsychosocial context. Everyone has roles (personal and professional) that we would like to expand and roles that we would like to reduce in our lives. The human being is essentially a role-player. Our roles exist in complex reciprocity with other roles within our self, our social atom, and our communities. This workshop will explore Morenean role theory as it relates to intrapsychic, somatic, psychodramatic, and social roles while also introducing role development stages and other role phenomena. Content from Scott’s forthcoming book will be presented in this workshop. #PhoenixTraumaCenter #roletheory #trainings

Happening this week! Register for this training today! Learn one-to-one psychodrama techniques from Brazilian Psychodrama in our workshop on November 7th 9am-4:30pm (EST) on zoom. More info and registration here - http://www.phoenixtraumacenter.com/event/1448/... BY ZOLI FIGUSCH (BRITISH PSYCHODRAMA ASSOCIATION, UK) This experiential workshop will present and demonstrate one-to-one psychodrama techniques that can be used when working with individuals. It will focus particularly on two approaches developed by Brazilian psychodramatists, but little known outside of Brazil, and their adaptation to the current challenges of working from a distance through a computer screen. ‘Internal psychodrama’ This technique works with internal and symbolic dramatization, with the client visualizing and experiencing the action, but without physically executing it. Instead, the dramatic interaction with characters happens internally/mentally. It has been developed and furthered by psychodramatists such as Bustos, Dias, Godoy and Fonseca. ‘Relationship psychotherapy’ This is a working modality developed by Jose Fonseca, a technique derived from analytical therapy and psychodrama, and described as a minimalist version of psychodrama. The expression ‘relationship psychotherapy’ emphasizes the relational philosophy (Martin Buber) within the therapeutic work, and it deals with the client-therapist relationship (here and now), the client’s external relationships, and the relationships from the client’s internal world (the client’s internal sociometry). Scenes are played out verbally; there is no external dramatic action, no stage or stage markings, and no physical interaction. 6 CE Hours for US Counselors and Pennsylvania LCSW, LPC, LMFT, & Psychologists + 6 training hours in psychodrama/experiential #sociometry #psychodrama #groupwork #experientialtherapy #grouptherapy #experientialteaching #psychotherapy #counseling #teletherapy

The mind, body, & soul are in constant motion towards integration and self-healing. Sometimes our responses to trauma or adversity result in barriers to accessing this autonomous healing center within. We believe in the client’s ability to heal from trauma and to co-direct the process of removing these barriers to healing. Similarly, we treat each group therapy participant as a therapeutic agent for each other; and each workshop participant/trainee/student as an agent of education/support for everyone else in the session. #MutualAid #SelfHealing #TraumaTherapy #TraumaTreatment #Trauma #Empowerment #Autonomy #AutonomousHealingCenter #GroupWork #GroupPsychotherapy #PsychoDrama #ExperientialTherapy

Just a few days away - we really looking forward to this one! Join us to learn about Psychodrama's spiritual/existential philosophy! Did you know that Jacob Moreno, founder of psychodrama and pioneer of group therapy, created a religion? Did you know all of his methods emerged from his existential and spiritual philosophy? At the end of his life, he was quite frustrated that his methods had been divorced from their underlying philosophy - he compared it to taking a child from... their parents! This workshop presents the philosophical origin of psychodrama and sociatry with emphasis on the Morenean ideas of God and the Autonomous Healing Center within. Pulling from Scott's forthcoming book, this workshop will also integrate the social work core value of "recognizing the dignity/worth of each human" as it relates to Moreno's work. Today Dr. Scott Giacomucci presented an invited workshop titled "Psychodrama & Academia" for ASGPP's first virtual symposium. This workshop explored Morenean history as it relates to the roles of writer, researcher, and professor. Moreno's ambivalence to these roles was highlighted as a parallel process for the collective ambivalence towards these roles demonstrated by the United States psychodrama community. The Canon of Creativity was presented as a map for writing (inspir...ed by Adam Blatner!). The importance of containment, professionalism, and ethics was discussed at length as it relates to areas of growth for the psychodrama community. Multiple spontaneity exercises were offered including a doubling practice for the avoidant relationship between psychodramatists and research (see image attached of the research monster). Practical suggestions were provided for practitioners collecting research data and collaborating with researchers - as well as trainers making the role transition to professor. Participant articulated their own goals for the next year related to research, writing, and teaching - and engaged in a future projection psychodrama to warm-up to pursuing their goals. Thanks to everyone who joined! #psychodrama #sociometry #grouptherapy #professionalism #psychodramaresearch #psychodramateaching
