Happy 4th of July...Independence Day!

This is "Typhoid Mary"...Mary Mallon...an Irish immigrant in the early 1900's...she was an asymptomatic carrier of Typhoid Fever. She didn't show signs of sickness or being infected. She believed that she was not sick. She worked for 8 different families in NYC as a cook and 7 of those families were infected with typhoid. Contact Tracing (before it was called that) led the authorities to her. She refused to believe that she was the one spreading it. She resisted being tested.... She ran from the authorities and hid. She was finally caught. She admitted that she hardly ever washed her hands. She had a huge amount of typhoid bacteria in her body. She promised not to work anywhere after finally being tested but she lied. She changed her name and took a job at a hospital. She infected an additional 50 people of which 3 died. She was quarantined twice...still resisting. She was in quarantine for over 23 years. She died alone. Don't be like Typhoid Mary... wash your hands...wear a mask...self quarantine if necessary..don't be a spreader of disease...like Mary! See more
