Whether you're still using WIC or used it in the past, this is a great time to use your voice and tell state administrators how WIC could be more helpful! Just Harvest and the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger are hosting informational Zoom meetings for parents, learn more here: https://justharvest.org//pa-needs-to-hear-from/2021-05-19/

2020 was a big year for bringing attention to the resiliency and adaptability of local and regional food systems. As a result, the USDA has made over $90 million available (with lower match requirements) to organizations that are developing, coordinating, and expanding the food system in their communities. Projects that support smaller farms and ranches, new and beginning farmers and ranchers, socially disadvantaged producers, veteran producers, and underserved communities are strongly encouraged to apply. https://www.usda.gov//usda-invests-922-million-grants-loca

TONIGHT: WQED Pittsburgh will premiere a new local documentary that examines "food insecurity" affecting those in Western Pa titled "Starved: Our Food Insecurity Crisis" on Thursday, November 5 at 8:00 pm. Check out partners from Black Urban Gardeners and Farmers of Pittsburgh Co-op, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and others! Here is the trailer. In addition, for clarity we do not use the phrases Food Deserts or Healthy Food Priority Area; We called it by it’s true phrase, which is rooted in systematic injustice. FOOD APARTHIED. We use food insecurity for households. https://www.youtube.com/watch
