If you are reading this and you are not on a QUALITY vitamin D supplement then you’re wrong. COVID aside, over half of us are deficient in vitamin D and if you live in the Pittsburgh, I would bet money that you are vitamin D deficient. It doesn’t matter how much you think you are outside, we simply do not get enough sunny days here in #Pittsburgh. Ok, now let’s talk COVID. If I didn’t convince you to start taking vitamin D then maybe the COVID scare will. There have now be...en plenty of studies to prove that we should ALL be taking vitamin D to boost our immune systems and to 1. Prevent COVID and 2. Reduce symptom severity if we get COVID. It is an inexpensive, side effect free way to help you fight any virus, especially this one. Not to mention vitamin D is a necessity for good bone health, cancer prevention, immune system functions The risk of having positive COVID results in Black individuals was 2.64 greater with a lower vitamin D level 80% of all people who were diagnosed with COVID-19 had vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with compromised inflammatory responses and higher pulmonary involvement (aka cytokine stor) in COVID-19 patients. Vitamin D3 supplementation would be useful in the treatment of COVID-19, in preventing a more severe symptomatology and/or reducing the presence of the virus in the upper respiratory tract. We observed a positive association between vitamin D deficiency ad the severity of the disease." Now we talk dosing and what your vitamin D levels should be. When you get your bloodwork in, most companies state that a good vitamin D range is 30-100 ng/mL but the lower range is far too low. I shoot to get and keep my vitamin D levels around 50-60, that is when it is working in your body and helping prevent cancers, sicknesses, etc. Personally, I take 5,000 IUs daily in the summer and 10,000 daily in the winter. If you need help finding a good vitamin D supplement, shoot me a DM. Ok, I’m done getting carpal tunnel from typing on the phone. I have studies to support all of this but my fingers hurt, just like that lady in Happy Gilmore. See more
Blood pressure is the force that blood is travelling through your blood vessels. High blood pressure that is occurring for a long time is strongly associated with and increased cardiovascular disease risk. A "high" blood pressure can put extra strain on your blood vessels and heart which if uncontrolled for a long period of time can lead to an increased risk of heart attacks, eye damage, kidney issues, strokes and more. The largest factors that contribute to developing ...high blood pressure are: Age - blood pressure tends to increase as you increase Family history - there does seem to be some genetic component, if a family member has high blood pressure, you have an increased risk Lifestyle - lack of exercise, excessive alcohol intake and smoking all contribute to high blood pressure Weight - people who have increased fat have an increased risk Sex - Before 55, men are more likely to have it. After 55, women are more likely. If someone has high blood pressure and they do not want to take the medications for it, there ARE lifestyle changes they can make very easily that are scientifically proven to help. REDUCE SODIUM or SALT INTAKE. It's a long story but sodium regulates your blood pressure. Decreasing the salt in your diet can help decrease the blood pressure. Notice no one said ELIMINATE, just REDUCE. INCREASE POTASSIUM INTAKE. Again, it's a long story but potassium works with the kidneys and is related to salt intake. So increasing your potassium intake can help decrease blood pressure. EAT MORE GARLIC. Garlic helps your blood vessels relax, thus allowing the blood to flow through more easily. EXERCISE MORE. This is the natural remedy to almost every ailment. Exercise and weight loss is proven to reduce blood pressure also. #bloodpressure #bloodpressurecontrol #bloodpressuremonitor #dashdiet #healthtips #cardiovascularhealth #hearthealthy #hearthealthyfood #hearthealth #fishoil #fishoilomega3 #potassium #potassiumdeficiency #exerciseismedicine #naturopathicdoctor #osteopath #osteopathicmedicine #naturalremedies #naturalremedy #lowerbloodpressure #lowerbloodsugar #healthydiets #foodismedicine
