Below is the obituary for Rose Wachter, 15 year veteran as a volunteer and greeter for PYCO, and mother to our operations manager, Kim Wachter McShea. She will be missed dearly by the PYCO family.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Wachter, on March 29th, 2021. Rose's incredible dedication to PYCO helped the group thrive and her presence will be sorely missed. Rose greeted each and every person attending PYCO concerts for the last 15 years. Her infectious smile, warm support and generosity of spirit inspired us all. We are sending love to her two daughters, Kimberly Wachter McShea and Emily Lachendro, and wish peace for them in this time of healing. More information about arrangements will come in the following days.

There's still time to give! You have until 11:59 pm to make a donation this Giving Tuesday during the Give Big Pittsburgh event. Every dollar we receive supports the many programs that PYCO offers. Your donation will enhance the lives of our young musicians, help them to grow in their love of music, and allow them to share their talents with the community. Visit givebigpittsburgh.com/organizations/pyco and make a donation.... Thank you for your investment in our students and the future of PYCO!
Dear Friends of PYCO, At the Pittsburgh Youth Concert Orchestra, we are working hard during these difficult times to provide opportunities to young musicians who are eager to perform and share their gifts with the community. To achieve this, we have been rehearsing in-person with numerous safety measures in place, while also live-streaming rehearsal each week to students who are participating at home. In addition, in lieu of a traditional concert, we are recording our pieces ...and incorporating videos from students at home to create virtual performances that will be shared with family, friends, and the community. Putting all of these changes into place is far from simple. Our team of dedicated teachers and staff has been constantly making adjustments and exploring ways to give our students the best experience possible under these challenging circumstances. We truly need your help now more than ever. Please join our campaign and on Tuesday, December 1st, from 12:00 am to 11:59 pm, visit givebigpittsburgh.com/organizations/pyco and make a donation. As costs rise and revenue has decreased, your generosity will help us to continue offering opportunities to young musicians throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area. Your gift will allow PYCO to fund learning opportunities, purchase instruments, equipment and music, and offset the costs that keep our many ensembles and programs running so that we can provide services to students in financial need. Your donation will enhance the lives of our young musicians, help them to grow in their love of music, and allow them to share their talents with the community. Thank you for your investment in our phenomenal students and the future of PYCO! Sincerely, Pablo Ardiles, PYCO Artistic Director and the PYCO Artistic & Administrative Staff
