Here is a sneak peek into God's Big Backyard! This will serve as a welcome center for our families as well as a dedicated STEM room for all our classes to enjoy! We are taking registrations now for the 2021-2022 School Year!

Top Parent Question Answered! - What does a typical day in Preschool Look Like? 9:15 Arrival time - kids put their belongings away, answer a question of the day, check-in with a name activity and engage in play-based table time activities. 9:30 Clean Up & Circle Time - kids and staff enjoy this time of discussing their day and any special activities that are planned. Classes go to the STEM room, art room, music exploration, or gym on a daily basis. Preschoolers will also le...arn to discuss their day through a visual calendar. 10-After snack, children engage in a read-aloud story and other literacy activities. Our literacy curriculum is based on quality literature that children listen to and respond to in various ways. Literature is selected by our qualified teachers to incorporate PA Early Learning Standards into our learning. Center Time - students engage in one of the various centers set up in our preschool room. We believe that the environment is our Third Teacher and our classrooms are set up for children to explore and participate in the wonder of learning. Centers include Math, Science/Discovery, Art, Dramatic Play, Library, and Writing. Lunch - students engage in a lively discussion with their teachers and classmates as we have lunch together. This is always a time filled with laughter where our staff gets to personally learn about each child, their loves, and their families. After lunchtime, we move into a math time dedicated to number games, counting, and real-world math experiences. We use a curriculum developed by Pocket of Preschool creator Jackie Kopps, as well as incorporating elements of Eureka Math, the curriculum that is used in the Chambersburg School District. Free Play in the gym is another afternoon activity where the laughter of children fills the first floor of the church as they ride on scooters, build trains with their friends and play with balls, balance beams, and other materials to build their gross motor skills. Our day in preschool often ends with a journaling writing activity, a final closing circle, and of course a song to draw our day to a close. As you can tell, we pack as much fun and learning into one day as possible! We couldn't possibly put all the details in one post, but hopefully, this gives our parents a good sense of the fun and wonder that happens inside our preschool classroom! Tours are available now. What’s Our Story? Over 40 years ago, our program began as a way to offer a Mom’s Day out to our congregation and local mothers. Over the years, our program has grown to provide education through play and to prepare children to enter Kindergarten successfully. This brought us to change our name from Central’s MDO to PlaySchool Central, to accurately reflect what we offer. PlaySchool Central is special because teachers and families build strong relationships with each othe...r and communicate daily. We believe that this relationship provides the building blocks for the best early learning foundation for children. Our families know that their children will be loved without measure, taught creatively to meet their developmental needs, and be encouraged to explore the wonder, that only play-based education can bring.
