Public Works is prepared for the predicted coming snowstorm event. Our fleet of 10 vehicles equipped with plows and material spreaders are in place and ready t...o go. Plumstead Township is responsible for 225 lane miles of road. During an average 4-6-inch snowstorm, complete clearing of all streets takes approximately 6 hours. Conditions like high winds, sleet and rain mixing in, and excessive accumulation of more than 6 inches can increase the amount of time needed by 2-3 times (12 to 18 hours) We currently have over 500 tons of salt and anti-skid material on hand. Crews will treat the roads early in the storm to create a salt film barrier. Plowing will start after the accumulation of 3 inches or more and will continue throughout the storm event. Crews remain in contact with emergency services and provide the necessary support to assist with clearing roads to get emergency vehicles to and from a needed location. Main collector roads will be cleared first with development streets being cleared last. Crews will also be required to take rest breaks as necessary. Driveways and sidewalks are subject to snow deposited during street clearing operations. This is an unavoidable circumstance. The township is not responsible for mailboxes damaged by snow discharged from the plow. Township maintained sidewalks will be cleared within 24-36 hours of the completion of snow removal on the roads. Property Owners are required by Ordinance 21-104 to remove your vehicle from the street during a winter storm and for the 48 hours following the storm to allow for snow removal. Basketball nets that impede snow removal equipment will be removed and stored. Owners are subject to removal costs. We appreciate your cooperation. If you have any concerns during or after the storm you can call #215-766-0189 and we will address your concern as soon as we can. Thank You and please stay safe!

Stump Road between Easton Road and Meetinghouse Road will be closed to all traffic on Wednesday, November 25th, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM so electrical crews can complete pole replacement work. Please plan accordingly and or safely follow the road detour signs.
