Following a 25-year career in Law Enforcement, 4 with the Norristown Police Department and 21 with the Plymouth Township Police Department, today was the last ride into work for Sergeant Robert Heger. In addition to serving in the Patrol Division, Bob worked as a Detective in the Investigations Unit. He was then promoted to the rank of Sergeant, supervising a Patrol Squad. Most recently, Bob was the supervisor of our Highway Patrol and Power Shift Units. Prior to Sergeant H...eger entering into his Law Enforcement career, he proudly served our Nation in the United States Marine Corps. Bob has been faithfully, and courageously, serving the public for 30 years! Bob was always willing to lend a hand when needed, provide guidance when necessary, and he led with compassion, integrity and intelligence. Not one to take it easy, Bob will go from serving the public in uniform, to serving them beers at his outstanding brewery, Ten7 Brewing Company in North Wales, PA. We wish Bob and his family the best of luck as he begins this new adventure full-time! We want to remind you that your family at Plymouth Township will always be here for you, unless, of course, we join you at Ten7!

We have a new addition to the Plymouth Township Police Department Family! Plymouth Township Council approved the hiring of Troy Lachenmayer to the position of Probationary II Police Officer at their meeting last evening. Troy was then sworn in by District Justice Frank Bernhardt. Troy Lachenmayer, 22, is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County. Troy grew up in the Limerick area and graduated from Spring-Ford High School.... He later attended Delaware Valley University, where he earned a degree in criminal justice. While attending University, Troy was a student athlete, serving as the captain of Delaware Valley University's baseball team. Troy is also a graduate of the Delaware County Community College Police Academy, earning his Pennsylvania Police Officers Certification. Officer Lachenmayer is assigned to Patrol Squad A, under the supervision of Sergeant Kyle Wilhelm. Troy, we wish you well as you begin to serve and protect the finest residents in Montgomery County, and everyone who comes into your care! Also at last evening's Township Meeting, Plymouth Council passed a resolution recognizing this week as Police Week, and thanking the officers of the Plymouth Township Police Department for their service to the community. A grateful Chief John C. Myrsiades accepted the resolution from Plymouth Township Council.

A message from Plymouth Township Police Department Chief John C. Myrsiades regarding National Police Week 2021. Police Week takes on an even greater significance in 2021 as we recount a year fraught with numerous challenges. COVID-19 forced us to reinvent what it meant to work, shop, learn and interact in public. National movements spurred civil unrest, pitting neighbors against one another.... Unwavering in their commitment to the community, our police officers remained unyielding in their effort and determination to undertake innovative means of servicing our residents, business people and visitors. Just as the Plymouth Township community appreciates the sacrifices made by our officers, I too am grateful for the women and men who have put our health and welfare above their own. I am proud of the officers who have continued to exhibit the utmost professionalism in the face of imbalanced scrutiny; and above all, I am moved by their selflessness, their sense of purpose, and the heart they’ve exhibited in a tumultuous year. More than any time in my thirty-two years as a public servant, I am proud to serve by the side of the finest officers our Nation has to offer. They are our heroes! Thank you!

The majority of vehicle thefts occur when the vehicle owner leaves their vehicle unlocked and their keys or fobs inside of the vehicle. Please do not make it that easy for thieves to steal your vehicle. We are pleased that you may feel as though your neighborhood is safe, but please lock your cars and do not leave the key and fobs in the vehicle. Thieves will return to a neighborhood multiple times, if they think that cars are left unlocked.

May 16 to May 22, 2021 is National Public Works Week. All of us here at the Plymouth Township Police Department send a heartfelt Thank You! to the members of the Plymouth Township Public Works Department. They work with pride and dedication, every day, to maintain the infrastructure of Plymouth Township. They are an essential part of making the Plymouth Township Community such an incredible place to live, work and play. From plowing our roads and picking up the trash, to maintaining our parks and (dear to our hearts) caring for the Officer Brad Fox Memorial Site along the Schuylkill River Trail, they are continually going above and beyond for the residents of Plymouth Township. They strive to do at least One Good Deed a Day. We see their efforts and good deeds first hand, and are grateful for their work!

Halloween 2020 is almost upon us! Last year we fielded a lot of comments regarding moving Halloween to a Saturday. Soooooo... We are excited to announce that this year, we were able to have Halloween moved to Saturday, October 31, 2020! There's no need to thank us. We just figured that with 2020 being such a difficult year already, we would try and make it a little more fun for everyone. Next year, Halloween will fall on its normally scheduled date.... With all of the concern over Covid-19, we are naming this the "You BOO You Halloween". If you are comfortable Trick or Treating and/or giving out candy, Just Do It (safely)! If not, don't, just find another way to have fun on Halloween! Below are some helpful tips from the Montgomery County Office of Public Health to assist you in having a safe and fun Halloween. 1. Limit group size to household contacts. If a group has individuals from different households, maintain 6 ft.distance, wear a mask, and do not share objects. 2. Limit contact with commonly touched surfaces or shared items. 3. Do not grab candy from a bowl. Use the grab and go method which includes individually wrapped bags of candy or treats. 4. Trick-or-Treating routes should be one way. Have trick-or-treaters go in one direction up and down the streets/routes to limit exposure to other groups of individuals. 5. Remember, they are kids, they have also had a rough year. They may forget to follow some of your Halloween rules. Don't Panic! Let's have some fun and make this feel like a normal Halloween! A limited number of GLOWSTICKS are available at the front desk of our station: 700 Belvoir Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462

On Monday, October 19, 2020, students from the Colonial School District begin returning to shool on a hybrid learning model. We are happy to welcome them back to a slightly more normal school experience! This video provides some reminders for all of us as our children make their way back into the classroom. We will have officers out in school zones, at school crossings and at bus stops as a safety reminder for all drivers. We know that it has been quite a long time since ...the normal amount of school buses have been on our roadways. Remember to give yourselves extra time, be patient and help keep everyone safe. Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Well.
