We’re currently working with our curatorial staff to create or enhance Wikidata records for African American artists represented in the PMA’s collections. By adding more metadata to this resource, we hope to make Black artistslike Samella Lewis, who made this lithograph entitled Boy on Benchmore discoverable to researchers at all levels.

In an effort to take extra precautions given the spread of COVID-19 and the shared nature of our reading room and office spaces, we have decided to close the library and archives reading room March 16-April 5 and we will continue to monitor the situation and may reassess our plans for future appointments as more information is available. We regret the inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding as we navigate how to handle our spaces and commitments amid this evolving situation. We look forward to scheduling your visit for a later date, and in the meantime, please feel free to contact us with any questions.

We are deeply saddened to learn Andrew Lins, the respected Philadelphia conservationist, has passed. Mr. Lins dedicated his life to preserving artwork. He was 7...4. Andrew Lins was known as an approachable authority on preservation topics and often volunteered his knowledge and expertise to the City of Philadelphia for various public restoration projects. Mr. Lins' passion brought him to the top of City Hall when he supervised the William Penn statue restoration in 2007. We are grateful to Mr. Lins for his hard work. We will not soon forget his exemplary life of service. https://www.inquirer.com//andrew-lins-art-conservator-phil
