Happy Halloween!!!

Dr. Joseph P. Ruskiewicz & Associates 10.02.2021

Joseph Ruskiewicz OD MPH of Pottstown met with Pei Chang Wu M.D. PhD. Dr. Wu is department head of Ophthalmology at Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. He has done extensive research in controlling nearsightedness (myopia) in children. Nearsightedness affects the majority of school-age children in Taiwan. In the US, 50% of children now graduate being nearsighted. Dr. Wu has been using eye drops as well as encouraging children to be outdoors to help control nearsightedness. Dr.... Ruskiewicz hopes to bring some of these techniques back to the Pottstown area. He has worked with a number of children and has been successful in preventing their eyes from becoming worse. A number of techniques have helped Dr. Ruskiewicz prevent children's eyes from becoming worse. The most successful technique involves wearing contact lenses overnight to shape children's eyes. In the morning, after removing the contacts, they are contact and glasses free. At the same time, these lenses have been very successful in preventing the eyes from becoming more nearsighted.
