Our district is proud to participate in the Montgomery County Recruitment Outreach (MCRO) Virtual Education Career Fair on Wednesday, January 13th from 3:00 to 7:00pm. The MCRO is a consortium of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, public school districts dedicated to the recruitment, selection, and employment of diverse, skilled, and talented educators. Candidates must pre-register by Monday, January 11th and will be scheduled a designated time to speak one-on-one with a representative. Poorer schools in Pennsylvania have so far received too little money from federal CARES Act funding to meet education needs during the pandemic, a new report says. It will be discussed Monday by a panel that includes Pottstown's schools superintendent.

Reducing Food Waste Vol. 1 Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services

Franklin Elementary principal, Beth Kramer, and a band of scary characters hosted a night of family Halloween fun with a drive-by trick or treat night. The Franklin Frighteningly Fun Pumpkin Patch was host to an assortment of characters, from cowgirls, Snow-white, ice hockey mascots to dinosaurs. Families could drive by for a friendly scare and a treat. Principal Kramer said it was nice to be able to see students and their families and make an in-person connection.

Congratulations to Darius Smallwood! His second place finish at the District I Cross Country meet has earned him a spot in the state championship meet next week in Hershey. Darius ran an outstanding race in very windy and cold conditions. He covered the 3.1-mile course in 17:28.1 which was just one-tenth of a second behind the first-place runner. Christian Albert also had a strong showing with a time of 22:19 for 40th place. Congratulations to two fine PHS student-athletes who represent our school and community with pride and honor. Coach Stephanie Konnick said, "these two young men have been an inspiration to our team and our true leaders and excellent examples of sportsmanship."

Attention Pottstown Parents: Last week the district was notified by one of our families that they found a spoiled lunch food item in one of our take-home food distribution boxes. The food items and boxes are pre-packaged by an outside vendor. The vendor was immediately contacted concerning the problem and was asked to reevaluate their food quality inspection procedures and to trace the shipment back to the point of origin. We will continue to work with the vendor and our dist...rict staff to ensure the quality of our meals. We are proud to say we have helped to meet the food security needs of our Pottstown school families by distributing over 100,000 nutritious meals. We understand that these may be stressful times for all of us and having a secure nutritious meal for our children is a district priority.
