Ingrown toenails: can be very painful What to do if you are having one? Always cut your toenails just straight across, do not attempt to remove painful corner by yourself, as you most likely, will only exacerbate the issue. If you feel your toe is sensitive at the corner, but not too bad- start soaking your foot for 10-15 minutes in warm baths with Epsom salts. Follow with topical antibiotic ointment such as neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment. Repeat... several times a day. If soaks did not help, and the toe still hurts, and looks angry, call to make an appointment, as you may need a procedure to remove an ingrown part of the nail. Have that ingrown toenail returning to you often? Think what is the reason. Dr Tyshko has received her undergraduate degree at Drexel University. She is also a graduate of Temple School of Podiatric Medicine. She has successfully completed surgical residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center, and was serving as a chief resident in her last year there. She is still active there in both academic and surgi...cal education of current residents. She also studied applied math and physics ar Moscow Institute of Physics and Technologies (State University). Dr Tyshko is fluent in 3 languages, besides English: Russian, Ukrainian, Kalmykian (Mongolian). Dr Tyshko is a mom of 4, and she is great with kids!
