Final days in Mexico! Vacations really do go too fast!!! On Wednesday, we made a choice to leave the resort on a fabulous catamaran snorkel trip to Isla Mujeres...! A first for my son and husband! The driver who picked us up at the resort gave us a temperature check, a scanner across the tops of our hands. Masks were required in the van and at both marinas. The catamaran is built for 40 passengers, and in a non-coronavirus time, they fill it to 30 passengers. During this time, they max out the boat at 14 passengers! There was more than enough space on the boat for social distancing. We made two stops for snorkeling and then had some time to spend on Isla Mujeres. Unfortunately, the beach where we docked on the island was closed due to COVID. Yesterday morning, we said adios to our lovely resort. Masks required in the transfer, at both the airport in Cancun and in Baltimore, and on the plane. Again I mention that this is mandatory. As you walk in to the lines for check in for your flight, you walk by a temperature scanner. Definitely faster than scanning each person individually. Southwest has changed their gate set-up here. You will see in my photo that they roped off a large rounded area in front of the gate doors. 4 places to line up to board. They had groups of 10 line up in each of these at a time. Again on the flight no one was allowed in the middle seats unless with family. We made it back home with no problems. I definitely learned a lot for myself as a travel agent while on this trip. I had a lot of great conversations with resort staff and other workers. They are not letting the situation ruin their spirit, and they all were so thankful to have travelers visiting again!
