November is National Adoption Month. This month we will be featuring the stories of PFCS resource families that have adopted from the foster care system. We started fostering Danielle when she was just two days old. She came straight to our home from the hospital, and, being new parents, we were scrambling to get everything ready ...for her. My husband was setting up a crib, family members were dropping off clothes, and our house was pure chaos. Then we held her in our arms and time stood still. We were in awe, and knew we would do anything to improve this little girl’s life. Sixteen months later we sat in a courtroom, surrounded by family, making it official! We couldn’t have done it without all the help and support from everyone at PFCS. The road to adoption through foster care can be a scary, pain staking process. Adoption is rarely certain when agreeing to a foster care placement, and it can be painful to imagine bonding with a child only to see them return home.
