Good morning! Now as business is slowing down, we can take time to get some of our large inventory of motors fixed up and ready to sell in the spring. No there are not any 20 hp motors yet.

The 3.0 running

I’m going to make a very long and and unpleasant story short. After 2 failed Jasper remanufactured long block 3.0 engines, Yes I said 2. We couldn’t believe it either. When we received the first motor we questioned something with jasper that was different with the cylinder head that was NOT same as motors we have worked on. After days of waiting for an answer, we continued to the run and break-in procedure. After running approximately 1/2 hr and bringing to idle, motor had ...a miss. Found water in #4 cylinder. Received motor #2. It also had the unknown head that was on the 1st one. Changed all components over , went through break-in, and after approximately 1/2 hr we had an exact repeat of the first!!!! We are sure that something more is wrong?? The original motor did not have water intrusion had bad compression and damaged pistons. We changed intake/exhaust assembly as it’s the only other component water sees with no change. Both motors also used 1.5 qts of oil during break-in?? We did a leak down test on #4 cylinder and pressure leaked in crankcase at 5# of air. After much discussions with jasper and not solid answers - we tore the original motor down and did it ourselves. Cylinders in spec so they got honed, new pistons, rings,bearings, complete head job, etc. Assembled, break-in done, and guess what no water. Jasper issues extremely delayed this boat seeing water this year Motor ran great and now is in boat, winterized, and ready for next season
