Pulse Fitness will be open for business (24/7 access) on Monday, June 8th @ 9am.Pulse Fitness will be open for business (24/7 access) on Monday, June 8th @ 9am.
COVID-19 Update: To our members and friends: It’s with great sadness that we have now been forced to close our doors effective March 19th, 2020 @ 8:01pm. Governor Wolf has issued a new order this evening, which is different from the order signed on March 6th, 2020. The new order outlines additional powers enacted by the state and enforcement guidelines of that said order. While we are disappointed about this decision, we are held to the powers of the law and will abide by su...ch. At this time a date has not been given as to when the order will be lifted and therefore we don’t know when we will be able to re-open. Current Members (to include monthly) By contract, we will be extending the end of everyone’s contract by the amount of days we are mandated to stay closed. No action is required by you, this will happen automatically. There is no cost to you for this adjustment. Your payment cycle will remain the same as it is now and payments will continue as normal. If we are mandated to close for more than 30 days, additional adjustments and information will follow via our website, social media and email accounts. Temporary Members For those of you that visited after March 15th and have paid to use the gym temporarily, we will be issuing refunds for the unused time and any 24/7 access keys that were bought. If you paid cash, please stop in when we are allowed to re-open and we will refund your cash payment. Now our thoughts - We have decided to keep our personal opinions aside for now. For those of you who utilize the gym as therapy, fun, socialism, life sustaining or any other reason, please reach out to your state representatives and make them aware of your feelings and opinions. We held out as long as we could and will have many sleepless nights moving forward knowing that our gym family is being affected by this. We received so many kind words over the past few days and we won’t forget that. We’ll come back stronger than ever!!!
3/17/20 UPDATE: We’d like to offer some clarification to our decision to remain open despite what is being misrepresented in the media. PA Code Title 35, known as the Health and Safety Act, is what gives the Governor the authority to close a business for public safety concerns. That specific title provides the state authority to control ingress and egress to and from a disaster area. Governor Wolf has offered SUGGESTED PRACTICES, to local businesses (to include gyms a...nd health clubs). He HAS NOT signed an order MANDATING anyone to close or not continue normal operations. Therefore we are to remain open unless something changes in the coming days or weeks. Now our moral obligation. When we opened the doors in 2017, we promised to always put our members above all else. WE STAND BY THAT PROMISE. Countless people have reached out to us in the past 24 hours and expressed how the gym is their therapy, whether that be physically or mentally. While we understand that some people may not agree with our decision to stay open, it’s a decision we made based on the commitment we’ve made to our members. Certainly if you feel it necessary to stay home, we support that also. We will do our best to keep everyone up to date if something from the state changes, but until then, it’s business as usual! PULSE FITNESS STAFF
Members, We hope that everyone is in good health and spirits, despite the current situation. We wanted to reach out and provide you with an update on the status of the gym. This is a two part update. The first issue is the opening of the gym and the second is the status of the gym in the future. ... Issue #1 - We have been talking almost daily, as the situation seems to be changing by the hour as to when we will be opening back up. We certainly have our opinions as to what is going on in Harrisburg, but this is not the time or the place for us to voice those opinions. We want to be fair to our members and also follow the guidelines in a respectful manner. As you know, the county is converting to "yellow phase" tomorrow. Many of you asked if we are opening. Unfortunately, we are in the "green phase" and will be waiting until then. Based on scientific facts, working out with a mask on for extended periods of time can be harmful to your health and we certainly do not support that. Therefore, when the county moves to the "green phase", Pulse Fitness will be open to customers. When exactly that will be, we have no idea. Issue #2 - Many of our members have reached out and asked how we are holding up with no income to the business. We certainly can't thank everyone enough for their comments and concerns. The bottom line is that Pulse Fitness is YOUR GYM. Our members have made Pulse Fitness what it is and we have gratefully been provided the privilege, BY YOU, to operate such a great business. We have enacted a financial plan early on to ensure smooth operation of the business in downturns such as this. While working in conjunction with all our debtors, we can assure you that Pulse Fitness is here to stay. We will not be closing the doors, we will not lose this battle. You have stood up and supported us in the past and now it's our turn to return the favor. In conclusion, we'd like to reassure everyone that we will get through this, one way or another!! We will be stronger than yesterday!! Respectfully, PULSE FITNESS STAFF
Not really the way we planned on spending it, but our three year anniversary nonetheless. Happy anniversary to our gym family!!!
April 19th, 2020 Update
Ever wonder how to lose weight and keep it off. I can tell you it does not involve starving yourself. Today I review The Obesity Code, written by Jason Fung MD, who explains the relationship that insulin has with your body and how understanding the way insulin works will unlock the secret to weight loss.
Holding true to our promise of always providing our members with the newest supplements on the market, we'd like to introduce 3D. You'll notice, no flavors are listed on the can. The company uses the color to represent the flavor. Don't worry, well help you out with a label in the cooler. Let us know what you think of the new drink in the comments. #3Dpreworkout #myerstownpa #pulsefitnessclubs #gym #fitness #preworkout #gains
Performing the lateral raise while internally rotating your shoulder could be setting you up for some long term damage. Make this small change which will prove to have big benefits....your shoulder joints will thank you!! Stay strong!
Gym's status and YOUR status. Let us know in the comments section about what you are doing to stay active and healthy! Toby and I would love to hear from you! Talk to you soon. STAY STRONGER!
Are YOU training your rotator cuff? With attachments at the scapula and humerus bone, three of the four muscles that make up the rotator cuff are responsible for external rotation of the shoulder. A weak rotator cuff could lead to impingement issues of the shoulder later on in life, so adding an exercise that strengthens this important group of muscles can do wonders for the overall health and longevity of your shoulder. Leave your comments below and as always, stay strong!
Does Thanksgiving scare you? Here are a few tips you can use to your advantage so that you can have your pumpkin pie and eat it too!

You Get One Body! Over the weekend my wife and I competed in a dance competition as part of a fundraising effort for the Harrisburg Police Athletic League. Although we did not place first, we can both say we had a lot of fun learning the routine, which took a lot of time and effort . I can also say that my work out routine had a positive impact on my dance routine. I never would have been able to keep up with the dance moves if I did not take care of my body first. REMEMBER THIS. Your health will often times dictate what you can and cannot do in life. Take care of your body and it will take care of you! Challenge yourself in the gym so that you can conquer your challenges in life. Stay Strong Everyone!
Soooooo, I was at Hershey Park with my family and saw a push up challenge put on by the US Army. I always liked a good challenge! I happen to beat their Sergeant's top number of 90......just saying . Representing Pulse Fitness! Always challenge your body and reach for new goals, you never know, you just might surprise yourself. 92 was a personal best for me! Stay strong everyone....and I'll see you in the club..
Final Day at the 2019 Athlean X Games/Conference. Toby and I owe much of our knowledge about fitness to this man, Jeff Cavaliere. If you are one who enjoys learning more about health and fitness, we highly recommend subscribing to Jeff's YouTube channel, Athlean X. Jeff always approaches training from a safety stand point and will provide you with knowledge that WILL take your workouts to the next level! With a background in physical therapy, Jeff will always ensure the safety of your body is first and foremost and will provide exercises that will not only increase your gains but will preserve your joints and mobility at the same time.
To work out on vacation OR not to work out on vacation....THAT is the question. The answer???

Pulse Fitness would like to congratulate one of our members, Joey, who placed 2nd in states for a weight lifting competition. Joey competed in the 18 and 19 year old age bracket. For those who know Joey, he works very hard while he is in the club and it all paid off. We wish him the best with his goals as he trains for the National Competition later this year. You inspire us all Joey. GREAT JOB!
We'd love to have your vote for the best gym in Lebanon County.

ANNOUNCEMENT TIME AGAIN !!!
Merry Christmas from all of us at Pulse Fitness.
Did you know a one-pound weight loss is the equivalent of 3,500 calories? How many chocolate chip cookies or fun size candy bars is that? The danger of dessert (and treats alike) is that often there are limited or no information or packaging included regarding servings or calories. Even if they’re present, we’re often too afraid to look at the damage from such a small snack. No need to demolish all the improvements and success you’ve made this year in just a few short weeks...; don’t let up now! That does not mean you can’t enjoy a favorite holiday goodie from Grandma’s kitchen. Making specific and strategic allowances about our excess caloric consumption is key over the holidays. Here are a few healthy tricks to go along with those treats: Drink a glass of water before each snack and meal, limit the intake of unhealthier foods filling up on healthier options, reducing alcohol consumption and trying exercise on days or around expected times of higher calorie consumption.
As promised, our new piece of equipment arrived today. Stop in to take it for a spin. We also met with Life Fitness for another project coming to the gym in the near future. Stay tuned...
Prediabetes Management Prediabetes is reversible! Prediabetes means that your blood... sugar is higher than the normal value, but not high enough to be diagnosed with diabetes. Without lifestyle changes, people with prediabetes are very likely to progress to Type 2 Diabetes. Behavioral changes, such as making dietary modifications and increasing physical activity, can help get your blood sugar back into the normal range. Healthy Eating: Mix fresh vegetables, fruits, and whole grains into your everyday diet. Skip the fried foods and opt for grilled, baked, or steamed options. Weight Management: Managing your weight can result from a combination of eating healthier and increasing activity. Losing just 5-7% of your body weight can help reverse and/or manage your prediabetes diagnosis. Get Active: You should strive to get at least 2.5 hours of moderate-intensity activities per week. If you break that down, it is a little more than 20 minutes every day!
Announcement Time!!!!

A Climb to Remember! Tim and Diane joined Pulse Fitness a few months ago with one goal in mind.....conquer the Half Dome Hike at Yosemite National Park. The Half Dome Hike is a 17 mile hike with a 4,800 feet elevation gain and a summit that sits at 8,842 feet! Tim and Diane were already use to being outdoors and enjoy activities like biking, but this was going to be a whole new challenge. Toby and I went right to work and put Tim and Diane on a workout routine so that they... could get into the best shape possible before the big day. We are proud to report that on September 10th Tim and Diane conquered the mountains and stood tall at the top of the Half Dome Hike! We wanted to share their story with everyone and hopefully inspire those who may have a similar personal challenge. Tim and Diane proved to each other that hard work and determination can propel you forward in life and help you conquer any obstacle, no matter how big or how small it may be. Great job guys! Stay Strong........ Brandon
Power has been restored!
We just stopped by the gym and the power is still out. Hopefully it comes back on soon.
The power is out in the area due to a motor vehicle accident. The door lock will not operate without power. We're sorry for the inconvenience.
Healthy aging should start when we are much younger. Too many times, we wait until later in life when our health starts to fail to take actionable steps. While it is never too late to start taking your health seriously, imagine the possibilities if we started sooner! What would have happened if we had not skipped that workout to grind through working overtime, if we would have taken the extra five minutes to pack our lunch instead of grabbing fast food? It is never too late or too early to start taking the right steps to age healthy, you will not regret it!
Jamari was looking so pretty in purple today, we couldn't help but grab a photo. Jamari puts in the work and it shows, great job!
A Day of Remembrance. Take time out of your day today to reflect on 9/11. We all remember what we were doing that morning when it happened. Differences with people were set aside that day and we all become one. In a time in our nation where we seem very much divided on current issues, we can all agree that this is the greatest nation on Earth. Remember those who lost their lives that day and support those who continue to fight. We should never and WILL NEVER FORGET. Stay Strong - Pulse Fitness
For as many times we get asked about workout routines, we get asked about diets. Here is a link to a video that explains our philosophy on diets. If you have a spare ten minutes this is a great video to watch that will explain why people generally fail when it comes to nutrition. We are here to make sure you don't fail. If you have questions or need some honest advice please stop by the desk and talk with us. We don't have all the answers, nor do we claim to, but we can tell you what works for us and what works for some of our members. Remember, you are not alone in your fitness journey. We have your back!!
PARKING LOT UNDER CONSTRUCTION We just found out our parking lot is getting re-surfaced today and tomorrow. Please forgive us for the inconvenience. The club is still open and there will be limited parking available throughout the weekend.
Shed a Few Poundsfor Knees’ & Hips’ Sake Excess body weight is a risk factor for both the development and progression of osteoarthritis. For every pound of body weight you gain, your knees gain three pounds of added stress; for hips, each pound translates into six times the pressure on the joints. Shedding extra pounds not only eases the pressure on joints but can also reduce pain in... osteoarthritis-affected joints, which will help you feel and move much better. While you may worry that exercising with osteoarthritis could harm your joints and cause more pain, research shows that people can and should exercise when they have osteoarthritis. In fact, exercise is considered the most effective non-drug treatment for reducing pain and improving movement in patients with osteoarthritis. The types of exercises below will help to maintain and improve the ability to move and function. Speak with your doctor about exercising with osteoarthritis and identify which of these exercises might be best for you: Range of Motion or Flexibility Exercises: Range of motion exercises include gentle stretching and movements that move your joints through the full motion they were designed to achieve. Doing these exercises everyday can help maintain and even improve the flexibility in your joints. Aerobic/Endurance Exercises: These exercises strengthen the heart and make the lungs more efficient. This conditioning has the added benefit of reducing fatigue so you have more stamina throughout the day. Low impact exercises like cycling or using an elliptical machine are smart choices. Strive for 150 minutes weekly. This translates into taking a 30-minute swift walk or bike ride five times per week. Strengthening Exercises: These exercises help maintain and improve muscle strength. Strong muscles can support and protect joints that are affected by arthritis. Strengthening exercises are especially beneficial to individuals with osteoarthritis. Also, walking tones muscles that support joints. It also improves circulation, lowers blood pressure, and strengthens the heart.
We met some amazing inspiring people this weekend. Katelyn, who is 17 years old and is from California. She competed at a level higher than some of the men. Katelyn told us that she loves fitness and is studying to be a ballerina in Chicago. We wish Katelyn the best of luck. We also met a gentleman named Steve who is blind. He brought his seeing eye dog with him for the weekend. But his inability to see didn't stop him. With some guidance from Jeff, Steve completed the course just like everyone else. Such an inspiration! Our message to you is simple, there's always a place for you in fitness. You don't have to be the youngest, the best, the fastest or the most knowledgeable. Simple show up and give 100%, the remaining benefits are the results of hard work.
A small clip from the ab training session this morning.
