The Borough of Quakertown, John Rivers Memorial VFW Post 11322, American Legion Post 242 Quakertown, and Quakertown Rotary are still raising money to revitalize the war memorial. The project includes updating the plaza, installing new flag poles to represent all of the military branches, adding two shelter to cover new park benches, updating the site lighting and landscaping, and restoring the monument. The Quakertown Veterans’ Memorial Committee is depending on the kindness... and generosity of individuals, companies, and organizations of the greater Quakertown community to help fund this Memorial and recognize the sacrifices made by all who bravely served our Country. The 10th annual Shop with a Cop was a great success thanks to many of our generous sponsors, dedicated police officers and volunteers. Shop with a Cop began in 2011 with 14 children, and this year due to the overwhelming community support we were able to brighten over 180 local children’s holiday. Each child was given a $150 gift card to purchase anything they wanted for themselves or their families. Although this year was a little bit different due to COVID-19, everyone was able to maintain proper, social distancing and Santa’s Helpers ensured everyone had a safe and great time! Once again, we would like to give a big thank you to all our sponsors, local police departments, and volunteer! This event would not be possible without you.

Tonight the Quakertown Borough Police Department in partnership with surrounding law enforcement agencies will host the 10th annual Shop with a Cop at the Quakertown Walmart. This is a national program pairing police officers with children to afford them a better Christmas. This program is geared towards children at the elementary level in the Quakertown School District and partnering areas who are faced with life challenges. Over the past year, the committee has raised over $50,000, and over 180 selected children will have the opportunity to shop with an officer tonight. Thank you to all our sponsors, and thank you to the other local police departments that will be coming out to assist this program tonight!

We know this situation is incredibly frustrating for residents and want residents to know we are currently in negotiations to find an effective solution for these issues. Unfortunately, J.P. Mascaro & Sons will have to delay recycling collection by one day this week. Trash service is occurring as scheduled.
