Happy summer all! We wanted to share an amazing opportunity and a chance to sign up. The deadline for sign up is June 10th so you still have time to apply! "This summer, 20 teenage girls will spend 8 days in Los Angeles filming a TV show under the guidance of mentors and professional creators." Don't forget to stay involved as this summer rolls on, whether that means on the West or East coast. ... Have a great summer vacation and we hope to see you in the spring of 2019 for our annual workshop!

We want to say from Temple University and the Reel Girls team, Happy International Women's day! To all the ladies that inspire each of us in our own way, to the pioneers and innovators, the Nobel prize winners, directors, writers, leaders and activists, the sisters, mothers and best friends. We thank you for being a part of our lives and continuing along this journey with us, creating strong bonds and stronger communities. It was just Oscar season, ladies and there were many wonderful winners this year but we want to give a special shout out to debut director, Greta Gerwig as our #wcw. #Gerwig is one of five women to be nominated for an Oscar in the role as director, proving how important female directors are needed in the production industry. With her films Frances Ha and Lady Bird, Gerwig started as an actress in independent films before writing and starring in both of her films, Frances Ha ...and Mistress America. We are so proud of her for making it to the Oscars and can't wait to see the work she continues throughout her career. Check out her article on becoming a director and creating a feature film. Keep those heads up ladies, never surrender and continue on your journey to creativity!
