Still been getting out when the lake permits. Colder temps and rains mean one thing. Nearshore jumpy fish starting this week.

Got out for two runs yesterday. Fast limits happened both times. It was impossible to get more than 8 lines in the water at a time. Lost count of the number of double and triple hookups, had mutiple quad hookups too. Bayrat deep divers were absolutely destroying them on the boards. Was pulling my plastic and metal minnows at salmon speeds in the afternoon 2.9 to 3.1mph and cleared rods by reeling in fish on every rod we had set! Will continue to pound the walleye as long... as the weather permits then be switching to nearshore steelhead once the lake temps cool down some. Fishing continues to be amazing. Deep program for the walleye is filling the coolers fast. Last few trips it's been hard to keep all the rods in the water. Numerous triple hookups and several quad hookups each trip have been the norm. Netting them 2 and sometimes 3 at a time has been common. The schools of bayrats being pulled behind the planer boards are just laying waste to the walleye. Bayrat and dreamweaver spoons on the riggers and diver are doing serious damage ...to the fish too. Playing around with a few prototypes lures in the spread. Working on dialing them in and finding the best approach to run them. Will post and update on what's new in the near future. Weekend fishing report. Fishing was great for us dispite others reporting a difficult or slow bite. 5 trips and it should have been 5 sets of limits but we called off Friday early due to someone having an unexpected early morning onset of the Lake Erie Flu. It wasnt easy getting the numbers we wanted but adapting the presentation and depth of lures was the key to success. Water temp is warm, even down deep, so fish are scattered throughout the water. We caught fish 20 ...foot down clear to the bottom. Having baits scattered throughout the different depths is the key right now. Old wise captain always told me speed kills, and he is absolutely right. Last few weeks we have been trolling on the fast side of what's considered walleye speed. Keeping them baits moving at 2.6mph to 3.1mph kept the junk fish away and walleye biting. Only had about 6 junk fish over the weekend. Thanks to everyone who came out and hope to see you all again! Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Spent much of mine on the water with customers, friends, and family cranking in walleye. Fishing this year is a bit more like it use to be. The past 2 years has been almost too easy. This year we have been working to fill the box. The calm winds, flat lake, hot temperatures, full moon, and clear skys this past week has kept us changing up locations and presentations to keep fish coming into the net. Been catching a lot of chubby 20 to 23 inch walleye. Several walleye over 26 inches this weekend and boated some jumpy steelhead also. Great fishing on sunday. Piles of walleye and a few steelhead were removed from the lake and taken to the saftey of peoples freezers. Fish were gut loaded with smelt but still gorging themselves on our spoons. Sunday morning highlight was a pair of 29 inch walleye. Sunday afternoon no giants but had mutiple hookups with some jumpy steelhead. Keep them baits up high, they are the ones with the feed bags on!

Well the bite was fire today for some of us on erie but most said the bite was slow. Knowing where the fish are in the water column, what they are feasting on, how to set the rods for maximum carnage, and knowing where the thermocline is all important info. They do exist! Spent a couple days fishing with a friend. We managed limits of 9 inch and better perch plus many throwback 7 and 8 inch perch too. Great news for the 2020 walleye fishing charters. The population of walleye is at an all time high. Also due to a recent career change availability is also going to be greatly expanded. Last years high catch rate along with the high average catch per hour trips are gonna be slightly adjusted for the upcoming year and will also be offering midweek (Tuesday through friday morning) trips in June till middle of July at discounted rate. Limits, limits and limits is what we have been experiencing. Last 3 trips have resulted in 102 fish being taxied out of the lake and to the saftey of freezers, fryers, ovens and grills.

Been crazy good fishing last several days. Total of 210 walleye seen the meat locker between Wednesday morning and Saturday midday. It's been a battle to keep lures in the water.
