Slide repair work on Route 53 (Kylertown/Drifting Highway) has been completed and the roadway is now open to traffic. Crews will return in the spring to comple...te final paving and PennDOT will issue an alert before paving begins. Overall work on this project included construction of two retaining walls as well as 600 feet of roadway reconstruction.

Another trooper at the scene is being treated for a possible broken leg, sustained while seeking cover from the gunfire. The gunman remains barricaded. Additional PSP resources are onsite. UPDATE (2000 hours) The trooper who was shot did not require surgery. He is receiving treatment for his injuries and is in stable condition. UPDATE (0200) After a 14 hour standoff PSP members returned fire, killing the man responsible for shooting our trooper.
